For this staircase, we were able to reuse the stringers. Before we installed the new steps, we stained the top sides of the stringers. Next we added 3" screws to backup the original nails that were used. We used 5" screws to secure the posts to the stringers. After we screwed down the steps with 2.5" screws we used putty over the screw holes, then sanded it down. Now it's ready for paint.

Probably the worse hood vent design I've ever seen.

This is a very common sight on ceiling fixtures. Eventually the wire shielding can wear right through to the bear wire, especially on ceiling fans.
