If a space change is on the list before year end, timing matters more than most teams expect. Design, procurement, and construction each need room to breathe. The projects that run smoothly are almost always the ones that started the conversation early, not the ones that moved fast at the end.

The fastest way to guarantee nobody uses a reset space is to put it in the wrong place.

We've seen beautiful ones sit empty because of adjacency. Put it where everyone can see who walks in and people stop going. Put it next to leadership and using it feels like a statement. Put it beside the loudest room in the building and the quiet is fiction.

That logic holds whether the building is a corporate floor, a clinic, a hotel, a campus, or an airport terminal. The setting changes the specifics. It never changes the principle: reachable without a detour, private without being hidden, and far enough from noise that the quiet is real.

That question gets answered during Blueprint, on the plan, before a single finish is chosen.

Here’s where most commercial projects lose their vision: the handoff.
Design finishes, construction starts, and suddenly the person who understood the intent behind every decision isn’t in the room anymore. Substitutions happen. Sequences shift. What gets built is a diluted version of what got approved.
We don’t hand off. We stay design lead through construction, managing every procurement decision, contractor sequence, and installation detail against the Blueprint.
Doug Arndt at C/RE Associates put it plainly after the SeaChange project, noting that Stephany ran the subcontractors on site from start to finish and brought it in on time and on budget.

New ownership acquires a company. The brand changes overnight. The building takes a lot longer.
That was SeaChange when they came to us. The incoming brand was bold, energetic, impossible to ignore. The office was still the shell from the previous business, capable but not yet telling the new story.
We rebuilt it from the front door inward across 12,000 square feet. Reception starts quiet on purpose: white tile, a brushed metallic logo against light grey, restraint that earns the boldness coming next. Then teal and magenta move through the building in fabric, wall accents, countertops, murals, and custom handmade glass tile.
The detail we still talk about is the artwork. Instead of stock photography, we brought in our photographer to shoot what actually happens inside the company. Presses in motion. Ink on rollers. Paper mid-pass through the machines. Walk the building today and the walls show a company in motion.

There's a version of the collaboration zone that gets built all the time. Good furniture, good light, a layout that photographs beautifully. And nobody uses it.

Usually the reason is acoustics. If two conversations at once push the room past comfortable, people leave. They leave a few times, then they stop coming back, and the space becomes the one everybody walks past.
