Another year, another amazing American Society of Landscape Architects - Minnesota Chapter Awards Gala! We love gathering with our friends, collaborators, and team to celebrate the incredible work created by our landscape community. A huge congrats to all the award winners!

Highlights of the evening: hanging out as a team with two of our clients (Kelly Leahy, Director of Family Services at Lakewood Cemetery, and Peter Deanovic, Founding Principal at Buhl Investors), receiving three merit awards, and our very own Maura McDaniel being named a 2026 Roger Martin Travel Prize finalist! 🎉

Today is 10.10 Day, a day we’ve chosen to come together, discuss, share, and celebrate all things TEN x TEN. This year is a special one as we celebrate TEN years of TEN x TEN! 🥳
 
In honor of this milestone, our team has designed a commemorative logo! Each letter represents an immersive environment inspired by the landscapes and communities we’ve been privileged to work with over the last TEN years– from bogs, mountains, prairies, lakes, and rivers to infrastructure, post-industrial sites, neighborhoods, and cities across the country.
 
These resilient, adaptive, and transformative landscapes that we design would not be possible without the incredible clients, collaborators, and colleagues we are so lucky to work with every day. Thank you all for your continued collaboration, guidance, and encouragement, and embracing our never-ending curiosity and open-ended ways of working.

We had a wonderful time at the annual American Society of Landscape Architects - Minnesota Chapter Awards Gala! It was so fun to celebrate the remarkable work created by our friends, coworkers, and collaborators. 🎉

The evening’s highlights: spending some quality time with the TxT team and our frequent collaborator from 4RM+ULA, Nathan Johnson, TxT receiving three merit awards, and our very own Kyle Franta being named the 2025 Roger Martin Travel Prize recipient.

Happy Arbor Day! 🌳 On the day we celebrate the preservation and planting of trees, we would like to highlight one of our team’s favorite trees: the Eastern Cottonwood.

•Why do we love Cottonwoods? For starters, their scale is exceptional. They’re one of the largest and fastest-growing trees in North America and can grow up to almost 200 feet tall.

•We share their deep connection to water. Cottonwoods are usually found in floodplains or wet areas along rivers and lakeshores like the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers.

•The sound of their dangling leaves blowing in the wind is ethereal. The flat stem of the Cottonwood leaf causes them to shake from even the slightest breeze, creating their signature clatter.

•Their method of seed distribution is noteworthy, but divisive. Some love the clouds of Cottonwood seeds, which float on the breeze to new locations in late spring and early summer, others are not so fond of the abundance of fluff.

•And finally, many animals and insects rely on Cottonwood trees and the habitat they create. Bald eagles build their nests on the large branches and require high perches to scan for prey, and bees use the antimicrobial resin to make their hives less susceptible to disease.

These beautiful, majestic giants are present in many of our project sites around the Twin Cities Metro including the Mississippi River Learning Center, Esox House, and the Dakota Homeland Frames. Follow Maura’s example and go hug a Cottonwood today!
