Gardens has evolved to become the “go to” place for garden enthusiasts as well as beginner gardeners and new homeowners. With a dedicated and passionate staff Sunnyside has been able to build the Garden Center retail store on the most basic foundation, plants and service. Never pushy, always eager to serve, it’s easy to say that the Sunnyside staff have made plants their career and their hobby. We believe incorporating plants into a home, patio and garden is part of a healthy lifestyle, and we are eager to share how to do this successfully. Sunnyside Gardens offers personalized garden maintenance programs, at home container design and installation, and full service landscape design and build. Easily the best garden center in the Minneapolis area; we are steadfast and true gardeners with an affinity for education and salesmanship. Sunnyside Gardens is conveniently located one block east of the 44th and France Avenue intersection in South Minneapolis. What To Watch For With Janelle – Part 7 🌧️
Happy National Gardening Week friends! 💛 As many of us are in the thick of gardening season, this is your reminder to watch the rain forecast.

Look at the weekly totals for rain fall in your area. If it's less than 1 inch per week, give your garden deep, supplemental watering. This is especially important for new plantings! ☀️

It's true that native and drought-tolerant perennials pretty much don't need supplemental watering – ONCE they're established. So if you just planted a native or low-water perennial, give them some extra love for this first growing season. Next year, water only during hot, dry spells.

Everything else will thrive with 1 inch of water per week. Whether that's from you or rain is simply up to Mother Nature! So keep an eye on it to avoid overwatering or using resources when they're not needed.

💡 Janelle's top 3 tips for smart summer watering:
1. Water in the morning (before 10am if possible) – this greatly reduces the risk of disease and stress
2. Water at the base of the plant, not the leaves – this also reduces chances of disease and gives the plant water where it needs it, the roots
3. Water deeply and less frequently – to help establish deep, healthy roots

June is National Perennial Gardening Month — and for good reason! It's time for peak blooms, the best planting conditions of the year, and yes — the maintenance that comes with it.

Here are the Sunnyside highlights:
