ASID MN ASID MN is the local chapter of a national community committed to interior design.

The Minnesota Chapter of The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) advances the profession and communicates the impact of interior design to enhance the human experience. ASID interior designers are uniquely qualified by education, experience and accreditation to enhance the quality of life through design of spaces that ensure the health, safety and well-being of the user, whether it be residential, commercial, sustainable or adaptable design.

Founded by Greg & Patty Closser, A Great Day Farm is a nonprofit organization that provides recreational opportunities including adaptive bikes and swings, art classes and music programs all free of charge to children and adults with disabilities.

Since December 2025, the ASID Minnesota Design for Good Committee has been collaborating with Joy Collaborative, Nor-Son Construction, and Larson Builders to reimagine the gathering space at A Great Day Farm.

ASID MN would like to replace the metal folding chairs with chairs to use with the Farm’s existing tables. These chairs are stackable, exceptionally durable, easy to clean and well suited to the needs of the children and adults who use the space. Most importantly, they will help create a welcoming environment where every guest feels comfortable, valued and included. Each chair costs $151, including shipping.

Our goal is to raise $3,624 to purchase 24 chairs.

Meet our Membership Director, Laura Engen!

Laura is the Owner and Creative Director of Laura Engen Interior Design, a full-service residential interior design studio specializing in remodels, furnishing, and styling projects for clients in the Twin Cities and beyond.

Laura started as a student member of ASID at Alexandria Technical College and joined as an Allied member almost 20 years ago. She's currently serving on the ASID Board as the Membership Director.

Laura lives in Edina with her husband and 3 boys. Outside of work, she enjoys attending her kids' sports and activities, ice skating on their pond in the backyard during the winter months, and going to the lake in the summer.
