The Corona Virus does not have a direct effect on Flower Beds but it has had an effect on our crew being able to provide our services. We are staying at home just like so many others are.

During this time its a good opportunity to work on your flower beds yourself to pass the time and do something that you will benefit from.

I am doing the same thing. Fertilizing and w**d control. Message me if you have any questions or need recommendations. I would be glad to help. Don

What is the one piece of equipment that you should BAN your yard nan from using on your yard.

Mow, Edge and Blow. Thats a term we use to describe lawn service. In most cases the crew arrives with the roar of big lawn mowers that quickly transverses your yard cutting your grass. This is followed by the chatter of w**d eaters edging driveways, walk ways and flowerbeds. While the lawn mowers and w**d eaters are be put away, its time to clean things up. With a heavy duty blower strapped on their backs, WOOSH grass clippings, leaves, mulch, flowers, and anything else that is not nailed down is blown away. Then silence as the lawn crew pulls away to their next job.

So what piece of equipment should be BANED, the BLOWER!!!

Blowing serves no purpose. It does not clean your lawn and especially your Flowerbeds of anything. Blowing simply moves things from one place to another. All of your mulch in your Flowerbeds will soon disappear leaving only a hard dry layer of soil. Your flowers and scrubs will suffer and die. Ban the Blower and replace them with rakes and brooms. You yard and flowerbeds will thank you.

Warm Days Cool Nights. These are the perfect conditions for flower beds and gardens this time of year. So now is the time to plant your flowers. They will be able to get a good root base before the hotter months arrive.

Here is a tip if you like fresh tomatoes. Get a large flower pot around 5 gallons or so and a bag of good potting soil. Then by 4 small tomato bedding plants, these are available at Lowe’s and Home Depot. Any type if tomato variety will work such as better boy. Then plant the 4 tomato plants along the outside of the pot a few inches from the edge. Bury the plant deep so that only the top stems and leaves are above ground. This produces deep roots and the plant will have a solid base. Don’t worry if they look crowded this will not effect the tomato plant. Now get one of the square tomato cages and place it over or in the pot. These are at Home Depot and Lowe’s as well. Sit the pot in an area that get plenty of sun. Here is the secret for a bumper tomato crop. Water every day and fertilize once every week with Miracle Grow liquid fertilizer. Mix one heaping scoop of Miracle Group per gallon of water. Pour over the plant and cover the heaves and soak in to soil. You won’t believe how fast it grows and the amount of tomatoes it will make. Enjoy
