The Granite and Marble Depot is one of Chicago's premier granite shops. We utilize the highest quality material and the latest fabrication and installation techniques. Fabrication and installation are greatly affected by the technology and techniques utilized by the individual fabricator. GMD imports only the highest quality stone slabs

and utilizes the best granite available to us from the most reputable suppliers in the Chicagoland area. You are free to select slabs from our stock or from one of the many suppliers in the area. We stock more than 55 different stones in large quantities that are ready for purchase and fabrication.
2. When granite is delivered into our facility it is quality inspected by our technicians. Once the slabs arrive and pass our rigorous inspection, our professional designers will contact you regarding viewing your slabs and going over the cuts, seam(s) location and final verification of your design selections (i.e. edges, sinks, sealers, etc…). You are invited to participate every step of the way to ensure your satisfaction with the final product.
3. GMD utilizes the latest computer software and digitizers to program the cuts according to your specifications. This results in custom curves, angles and details that turn out perfect on each and every piece.
4. A computerized wet bridge saw is used to make initial cuts. The saw is periodically calibrated to provide square and vertical cuts.
5. Final milling, shaping and all sink cutouts are completed using our Breton CNC. Breton is one of the leading and largest manufacturers of stone machinery in the world and they set the standard for the stone fabrication industry. Sink templates are downloaded from the manufacturer’s website and cutouts are made in strict accordance with the sink supplier’s guideline.
6. Upon completion of the shaping and milling of the granite, the pieces are given a final hand polish and buffed. Also, all seamed pieces are dry fitted to insure proper fit and flow of the granite.
7. For added rigidity and strength, all sink cutouts are reinforced with steel rods inserted into the granite. The slabs are grooved on the back side of the granite and reinforcement rods are permanently glued in place with epoxy adhesive.
