🌱🌻 Just added: new perennial inventory!

We’ve restocked some longtime favorites in our retail store and added a few highly sought-after species that don’t stay on the benches for long 👀

All of our pint size perennials are $6.50 in our retail store.

• Asclepias exaltata (Poke Milkweed)
• Asclepias tuberosa (Butterfly W**d) — Monarch favorite with orange blooms 🏵🔥
• Euthamia graminifolia (Grass-leaved Goldenrod)
• Geum triflorum (Prairie Smoke)
• Heuchera americana (American Alumroot) — a straight species native often sold as "coral bells"
• Lobelia kalmii (Kalm's Lobelia)— *in-person exclusive* hummingbird favorite with periwinkle blooms 💜
• Ludwigia alternifolia (Seedbox) — box-shaped seedheads for fall interest 🍂

Some species, especially Asclepias tuberosa (Butterfly W**d) and Geum triflorum (Prairie Smoke), are limited in quantity, so don’t wait too long if they’ve been on your wishlist! 🌿🌸

We’ve restocked some longtime favorites in our retail store and added a few highly sought-after species that don’t stay on the benches for long 👀

Most 1 gallon trees & shrubs are $22 each unless otherwise noted.

Want to attract more pollinators to your yard? 🦋🐝
Don’t forget the grasses and sedges! 🌿🌾

When we think about pollinator gardens, we often focus on nectar-rich flowers like Coreopsis, Purple Coneflowers (Echinacea purpurea), or Black-Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta). These are wonderful for adult butterflies and moths. But many species also need native grasses and sedges to complete their life cycle.

These plants provide:
✨ Food and shelter for caterpillars and larvae
✨ Safe overwintering habitat for native bees and beneficial insects
✨ Structure and resilience in the garden

For example, the beautiful Common Wood-Nymph (Cercyonis pegala) lays its eggs specifically on native bunchgrasses like Little Bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium) or Indiangrass (Sorghastrum nutans).

And the benefits don’t stop there! Native grasses and sedges help:
🌱 Prevent soil erosion with deep fibrous roots
🌱 Support drooping wildflowers
🌱 Add movement, texture, and year-round color and interest to the landscape

A thriving pollinator habitat is about more than flowers — it’s about creating a complete ecosystem. 💚
