Transitional style is frequently requested by many clients today in the Charlotte market, they want a more modern take on traditional styles but not full modern & contemporary esthetics either. Trends are moving towards warm tones while keeping the fresh, airy look provided by the white and grays we’ve been using in recent years. Pops of rich, dark accents are popular too tho this particular kitchen focuses on warm whites and light, natural white oak wood tones. The clean lines of the stucco hood along with simplicity of the full height quartzite backsplash achieve the transitional look many desire. My favorite part of this kitchen is the tall, wooden hutch style cabinetry with retractable doors to house all your countertop appliances!

I had the opportunity this summer to mentor my sweet neighbor who is in high school and considering the interior design field. Honestly, I was a little intimidated at first because I wasn't sure if I had the time to share my thoughts & explain what I was doing as I went thru my work day. Designers spend many days glued to a computer answering a variety of emails, researching products, trying to find available products, and we're always problem solving! But I really wanted to help Hannah out so I decided to go for it and it turned out to be so fun to share with her and try to help her experience the various aspects of a designers job in new home construction.

Today I needed to walk several homes in Heydon Hall so Hannah came along. One topic of conversation I explained to Hannah was that while Heydon Hall is a traditional neighborhood with many beautiful homes, the new section built by is a bit more transitional. The goal is to choose exterior finishes and colors that are pleasing to homebuyers building a new home in 2022 while blending in nicely with older homes directly across the street. So far, I think we're accomplishing just that! It takes SO many people to come together and do their part to have a home built, I love being able to play a part in that process!
