Gardening is at the center of Marquette County

The Master Gardener Program in Marquette County started in 1998 as a volunteer program to help UW-Extension deliver gardening information to the community. Since that time, over 138 people have been trained in horticulture information to help share the joy of gardening with Marquette County residents. Since 2000, Master Gardeners in Marquette County have volunteered 28,048 hours, which is an estimated value of $511,032.

To become a Master Gardener Volunteer, you will complete the Level 1 training which includes information on all things gardening. Once a person completes the class portion of the Master Gardener Program, they complete 24 hours of volunteer service in the year following their training to become a certified Master Gardener Volunteer.

Master Gardener Volunteers can be found at many local events throughout the year including, but not limited to:

  • Educational outreach programs.
