The Parke County Commissioners with The Town of Montezuma received a grant from the IDNR for the purpose of restoring the old B& O Railroad Bridge that crosses the Wabash River at Montezuma, Indiana for use in hiking and biking. It will not be used for motorized vehicles. All funds used will those received through the grant with in kind dollars used from The Town of Montezuma and The Parke County Commissioners. The bridge remains the property of the IDNR.

Public meetings regarding Southwest Parke Schools Re-Vision process will be held next week as follows:

Tuesday, January 20 at RPHS - 6 PM in the Library

Wednesday, January 21 at Rosedale Elementary - 6 PM in the Cafeteria

Thursday, January 22 at Montezuma Elementary - 6 PM in the Gym

Folks this Revision means that the closing of Montezuma Elementary School is being highly considered! The school corporation is 1.2 million dollars short of the current budget. There has to be an alternative way to sharpen the pencils of those in charge of this budget shortage in order to continue to keep our school open.
The closing of our school means the death of our community. Loss of jobs, busing students to other schools, an empty building, and decreased property values. Not to speak of the emotional and financial trauma on staff, students, and families!
Please attend one or all of these meetings to listen, learn, and ask questions. Work together to come to an alternative solution! Don’t go to yell, scream, and place blame. That won’t solve anything!
Montezuma Staff, I have been praying for all of you as I know from experience what you are feeling twice. Once when the high school was closed and another when the Junior High School was moved to Riverton Parke High School.
Please, let’s all get informed first by going to these meetings.

The DNR Boat ramp at Reeder Park in Montezuma will be closed Monday, August 4 and Tuesday, August 5 for the purpose of installing a new boating and fishing dock to be constructed between the DNR boat ramp and the town boat ramp at Reeder Park. The boat ramp will be used to float the new dock to its new location. The town boat ramp will be open for use and not be affected by this Construction. We apologize for the inconvenience but happy to be able to provide this new amenity.
