Today, May 4th, is International Firefighters’ Day. This holiday was proposed on January 4, 1999 after the tragic death of five firefighters in a bushfire in Australia. May 4th was picked as the day to celebrate because it is the feast day of St. Florian- the patron saint of firefighters. International Firefighters’ Day is a time to celebrate all those involved in the emergency service from career firefighters and volunteer firefighters to hazardous material specialist and fire prevention specialists to wild land fire fighters, emergency medical technicians and many more. No role is insignificant and all play a vital role in keeping our communities safe.
You’ve seen all the great work Chris and J.C. have done power washing, but did you know that they are also both career firefighters? Both Chris and J.C. started as volunteer firefighters when they were teenagers. J.C. was hired as a career firefighter 16 years ago and Chris was hired as a career firefighter 9 years ago. This shared love of firefighting is why they named their business Thin Red Line Power Washing LLC.
Happy International Firefighters’ Day to all firefighters across the world! Thank you for your sacrifices and your commitment to making your communities safer everyday!
