Now that the gas line is relocated I'm reinforcing the old floor joist that was damaged and sagging. I installed a double 2x10 across the floor joist to strengthen the floor and hold the weight of the water heater. All boards were joined with structural adhesive and 1/2" bolts every 16", as well as hangers and structural screws.

One problem taken care of. I had to have the HVAC company come out and relocate the gas line. Someone literally dug half the floor joist out when they put the original gas line in. Five inches of the joist was all that was left to carry the weight. That beam was sagging and needs re-supported.

Demo is mostly complete. Water heater is out, subfloor is removed and the last sheetrock is removed. Now I have to find ...

Demo is mostly complete. Water heater is out, subfloor is removed and the last sheetrock is removed. Now I have to find a way of fixing the water damage. Floor has sagged down a substantial amount.
