Beautiful, dreamy limewash is the perfect specialty finish to create a relaxing atmosphere in a single room or throughout you're whole house.

When applied professionally, and properly maintained, limewash is a wall finish that will actually outlast any paint you can buy at the store by decades. It will naturally patina and slowly change over time, adding more character as it ages. Limewash is a natural, breathable wall coating that is also absent of the typical chemical paint smell.

This house was done in Color Atelier, mineral with the first coat tinted darker to show more texture and variation.

Texture, layers and endless possibilities! Other variations of Venetian Plaster can be used to create incredible textured finishes. Here's a sample finish that I made for a potential client with several layers. Starting with gold foil, marmorino "skip-troweled", stencil elements and finished with some gold accent wax. Almost as if this was an old victorian plaster wall that has crumbled with age and is showing a previously hidden gold leaf wall underneath.

The beauty in this style is that it is really several finishes in one. We can omit any of the above steps to achieve a different finish, or even expand and take this process further. The colors of the foil, plaster and wax can all be changed to whatever you want as well!

Couple requested sample boards of the limewash finish in the "Soft Taupe" color.

If you see a finish you are interested in, you can always request a sample, free of further obligation.

For the limewash finish, go to the Color Atelier website and look at the offered colors. Limewash samples are approximately $20 for one and approximately $10 for each additional color. They will be prepared in a convenient size, in a way that will still demonstrate the mottling and movement of the finish.

New specialty finish: Limewash!

Check out this subtle, sophisticated finish called limewash or lime paint. The beautiful lightly mottled finish creates a calming atmosphere with its matte stone-like appearance. Like the metallic-suede look, but maybe not the texture? No problem!

Boero Metallic-suede is an incredible product that can be textured in many many different ways. In addition to a standard troweled, brushed or rolled application, I can create unique and varying textures with this product. I did a little sample of a texture I came up with which I have been calling "cratered".

Boero Metallic-suede can be tinted to many different colors and also comes in pearl, aluminum and gold base. (Example shown was pearl base- Sherwin Williams "Blustery Sky")

The finished result of a bathroom remodel. We had finished the walls with Boero Metallic-suede earlier this year. The end result is absolutely stunning!

This incredibly unique material can be tinted to a wide range of colors and also offers pearl, aluminum and gold as the color base. These walls were finished with the metallic-suede, pearl base tinted to SW "Debonaire". The application was done with a troweled on finish.

What makes Luxe Wall Finishes different?

Luxe Wall Finishes was established by Travis Smith, the owner of Smith Precision Painting. Travis opened Smith Precision Painting in 2021 after serving 7 years at the Morgantown Police Department as a Police Officer. Practically over night Smith Precision Painting became well known for its high quality of service, due to Travis' skill and dependability.

Never the type of person to settle just on a job well done, Travis began to expand his Painting skills to decorative techniques. He began to learn and practice techniques in various faux styles, glazing techniques, texturing and working with unique materials. Travis began to work on learning the highly sought-after and very difficult skill of Venetian Plaster applications. In 2022, Travis traveled to Vicenza, Italy to the Stucco Italiano school of Venetian Plastering for an advanced techniques course.

After months of planning and becoming an Italian certified Venetian plaster applicator, Travis established Luxe Wall Finishes. Luxe Wall Finishes is excited to be able to provide the Morgantown/Pittsburgh area and beyond with incredible and unique decorative finishes.

Imitation Travertine stone done in a horizontal pattern.

Travertine stone is a lime based stone which is characterized by its unique patterns of mineral deposits in varying colors, which usually show up in bands of color through the rock.

Travertine can very successfully be imitated with lime based plaster, such as the Stucco Italiano Marmorino Carrara used in this sample. I chose to do a horizontal pattern with high variation in color, to demonstrate this technique in a way that easily shows up in a picture of a small example piece. Travertine imitation can also be done vertically, diagonally as well as a wavy/swirling pattern. More subtle colors or even more bold colors can be used for different effects. The third and fourth pictures are full sized examples of the travertine technique, displayed at the Stucco Italiano facility in Italy. With this technique the possibilities are endless!

Stucco italiano Marmorino Carrara polished to a high shine. Two samples done in an olive green and a natural tan.

The Marmorino Carrara allows me to create a very traditional, true Venetian Plaster style. The thicker plaster, with a higher marble content, has less variation in color and movement than plasters with smaller grains and elements. This is reminiscent of the historical high polished lime plaster work found in Venice and Rome.

It is a more difficult product to work with and create this level of shine, but the beauty of the finish is worth it!
