Some people have asked us what "Hardscaping" means.

Well, hardscaping is simply a man-made feature used in landscape architecture, like a wall or pathway.

Below you'll see a fine example of SL&H hardscaping work. We've constructed a stacked stone wall to surround & constrain this planting bed. The horizontal stonework complements the painted clapboards of the home.

Rain Garden!

What's a rain garden, you say?

Well, it catches a bunch of runoff from the driveway and allows it to percolate into the soil where plants can withstand the wet roots. We built a berm for water retention and a drain to help remove surface water and the french drain at the front of the garden. The house's downspout was dug under the sidewalk to alleviate surface water.
