Harvesting fescue in our newly fenced seed production area, cleaning seed with our Seedburo screens, and one of our favorite seeds… Columbia puccoon (Lithospermum ruderale), which look and feel like little teeth! Seed season is in full swing!

A great project addressing invasive grasses and wildland fires in Wasco County that a bunch of our plants went to.

One canyon in Wasco County has burned at least five times in the last 20 years. A 4,500-acre restoration project is trying to break the cycle by removing the invasive grasses that fuel the flames.

Calochortus macrocarpus and Eriogonum umbellatum. Also known as sagebrush mariposa lily (or green-banded star-tulip, which is a bit more fun and apt- notice the greenish stripe down the petal) and sulphur buckwheat. The buckwheat is common along rocky ridgelines in the Cascades where butterflies are currently causing a quiet, beautiful ruckus. The mariposa lily pictured is growing in the Mosier area, where it was battered by heavy winds all last week, and in some places a bit tattered but still bringing in the pollinators who tend to linger long in its fuzzy, fringy fueling station.
