The white-stemmed frasera (Frasera albicaulis) is the belle of the ball right now! Absolutely buzzing with life and pollinators of all shapes and sizes.

We are excited to have this beautiful native perennial in the nursery for the first time!

With its distinctive, white-lined leaves and intricately tinted flowers, this drought tolerant pollinator powerhouse attracts not only us, but a vast array of native pollinators.

We are often shocked how few people know about the fabulous online tools for planning a native plant garden and picking native plants specifically suited to your garden and ecoregion that OregonFlora provides!! If you live in Oregon, this is an invaluable resource!

You can find these fabulous tools on the OregonFlora website:

“Jeanne will share her expertise working with the Oregon Flora: Gardening With Natives website. She will show participants how to navigate and plan various native plant garden “biomes” for our Oregon Ecoregions. Jeanne will use her South Coastal scenario to illustrate how to find the right plant for the right place. Can’t figure out what to grow under your conifers in your woodland garden? How tall will that Mock Orange shrub get? Curious about planting a Pollinator Meadowscape? Wondering where to purchase your favorite wildflowers or oak tree? Bring your notepad and questions to “find the best plants for your tastes and your yards.”

PNW native buckwheats in bud. Our native species of Eriogonum have so many wonderful qualities. From the special and important relationships they have with butterflies to their drought tolerance and showy blooms, Eriogonum spp. are incredible woody perennials that bring together beauty and biodiversity. Many have extra added color to their blooms when in bud. Here are a few of our favorites…

1. Scabland buckwheat (Eriogonum sphaerocephalum var. sublineare). Flower color usually yellow. Pink to peach or rosy red in bud.

2. Sulfur buckwheat (Eriogonum umbellatum). Flower color usually cream to yellow. Orange-red in bud.

3. Parsnip-flowered buckwheat (Eriogonum heracleoides). Flower color usually white to cream. Pink to rosy red in bud.

We have lots of buckwheats in stock at the nursery! Come visit us on your way to see the wildflowers of the Gorge 🌼

After the fire. Upland larkspur (Delphinium nuttallianum) blooming in an oak forest that burned last year. The oaks that survived are about to leaf out and native annuals seem to be thriving after the fire burned away a lot of suppressive thatch from invasive, non-native plants like bulbous bluegrass (Poa bulbosa) and rush skeletonw**d (Chondrilla juncea). The fire moved quickly through this area and did not sterilize the soil.
