Conceived in the fall of 2010 and was created to educate and bring folks together with a common goal; to spread the word about timber framing and provide a valuable online resource for everyone. We are achieving this goal by providing a showcase of timber frame house plans, a gallery, construction details, and anything else we can think of. All are welcome to

submit plans, photos, and articles to the site. I realized early on that this site needed to represent the community of skilled craftsmen that is the timber frame community and we hope that we can help you, the community, and help the trade by building this site. One of our primary goals is to increase the awareness of timber framing so more of them get built.

Framework Friday brings us one Ready-to-Raise™ kit proposal and three very different custom design projects this week.

Our kit proposal is a 32x24 portico and a gabled entry that coordinates with the larger frame.

From the Custom Design Department, we have a pair of timber frame porches designed to shelter patios, a curved bottom chord roof truss system, and a 24x40 three-gable pavilion.

This traditionally made oak timber frame was built for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show with its eventual move already in mind.

Oli Carter of Adventurous Joinery explains that every joint was planned so the frame could be dismantled and rebuilt. Even the pegs were made 1mm smaller than usual so they could be knocked out when it was time to take the structure apart.

After its time at Chelsea, the frame was dismantled, moved, and re-erected at Farnborough Technical College, where it now has a permanent home.
