The first green bean variety to produce is Contender!

This is one of 6 varieties planted so I’ll be picking daily for the foreseeable future…what have I done?!? 😝

Look at this farm stand inspired shelving my husband built and installed!

This will help keep the produce and eggs more organized and added a rustic accent to the kitchen.

And it’s a perfect spot for my not so perfect string of onions from the garden! They are very heavy!

Filius Blue ornamental peppers add a fun pop of color to your planters around the house!

These beauties greet me on both sides of the entrance to my she-shed.

The peppers turn orange and into red when they mature.

Although most often grown for their striking appearance, they are completely edible and pack a significant, cayenne-level punch although the flavor is described as grassy and bitter.

Ended up making a batch of salsa verde, only not with tomatillos.

This is a jalapeno and serrano salsa made by boiling 10 jalapeños, 10 serranos, half an onion, 3 large garlic cloves and then seasoning with 2 heaping teaspoons of salt.

You just boil the peppers, onion and garlic until the peppers change color, then blend with 1/4-1/2 cup of the cooking water along with the salt. How much water will vary based on the consistency you are happy with.

This simple salsa is delicious on its own, but can be used as a base for adding tomatillos, cilantro, lime juice and avocado for a creamy tangy salsa verde.

It’s not nearly as hot as you think it would be, nice kick but definitely palatable.

🌶️ ❤️

Itching to make salsa verde but need to wait a bit longer for more tomatillos to ripen.

So for now I’ll be freezing them until I have enough.

The melons are finally starting to sprawl out!

I’m really really hoping for a repeat of the enormous Merlin melons from last year (pictured).

Butternut squash are starting to produce! Every morning and evening I’m tucking and weaving the vines on the winter squash and cucumbers, training them to climb up the trellis. My pathways will be impassable if I don’t keep this up.

Zucchini in omelets, frittatas, sautéed, fried and freeze dried snacks…it’s all great and I’m not sick of it…yet!

These crunchy freeze dried sour cream and onion puffs are really good.

Here’s the link to the recipe, it’s a keeper. https://youtu.be/Sz5Wuq3pU5o?si=1AgnTCEvWawCVVL5
