An older home can come with a lot of pitfalls. "They don't build them like they used to," and there are good reasons for that! From k**b and tube wiring to cast iron and galvanized plumbing and uninsulated walls, owning an older home can come with lots of unwelcome surprises. At Fry's, we have the knowledge and experience to understand how these homes were built and know what issues to expect.

A few things to remember when you are looking for the right contractor for you:

1. Overpromising is easy. Delivering takes extensive knowledge coupled with integrity. You don't want someone to get halfway through your project but then walk off the job!

2. Quality is rarely synonymous with fast (if they're promising a 1-day bath remodel, they're skipping over and covering up plenty).

3. Cheapest is almost never best. If it sounds too good to be true, or you find that you can haggle the quoted price down, the contractor is almost certainly slashing important quality aspects and cutting corners from your project.

Bottom line: choose your contractor with care, and build a solid relationship based upon mutual understanding and trust.

Final inspections finished up and we can show you what we've been up to! From k**b and tube wiring, to cast iron plumbing to sagging floors and ceilings, and crumbling plaster, this place was showing its age in every way!

We collaborated with the homeowners to entirely redesign the floor plan and heavily updated everything to bring this space up to code and vastly increase the quality and value of the property. We updated all the electrical and plumbing, hoisted beams, lifted sag out of the house, leveled walls, ran new lighting throughout, built in a new bath, kitchen and laundry space, removed and built walls, resized and replaced all the windows, did all the carpentry, trim, finishing, etc, and so much more.

We're proud to bring this space from the 1920s to the 2020s!
