With the upcoming EXTREME weather we are getting there are a few things we would like to remind our customers & followers on all fronts. This is long winded I know. We just want to try and help everyone out we can reach.

If your heating system is a Heat Pump or Hybrid system you need to turn your thermostat to AUX/ EM heat this afternoon. It will need to be tgere till next Wednesday or Thursday.

Make sure you have a good clean filter in all your return grills so you do not trip on a high temperature limit and cause your heat to go out.

LP Gas customers need to make sure your regulators on your house are clear of any debris that could cause ice & or snow to pile up around them causing a regulator to freeze. A frozen regulator will not allow you to heat your home.

There are some gas furnaces 90% and up that condensate and drain water in the winter. Make sure those drains are clear and draining. If it starts to build ice a hair dryer can thaw it out or tapping on it lightly with the back of a screwdriver or something similar can brake up the ice allowing it to drain.

Please also make sure your outdoor pets have a warm place to go and get out of the weather to a heat lamp and warm bed. Red heat lamp bulbs will not mess with their vision and still allow them to sleep warm at night and stay warm in the day.

Stay safe out there and don’t get out unless you absolutely have to. If you do have to get out make sure you are prepared for the extremes and the possibility of being stranded

We hope all of our Customers & Friends have a Happy & Safe 4th of July. We will be closed on Friday. Our on call service tech will be running Emergency Calls Only if needed. We will be back in the office on Monday July 7th for regular business.

Also remember it’s the first of the month. It’s time to replace those filters. Filter life is 30-45 days max.

Roads are slick in Calloway & Graves. We have made it to the shop this morning and we are answering the phones. We will be making limited service calls today. If you have no heat at all and no backup heat like gas logs or a second system in your home. We will do our best to get to you. We still might not be able to make it to your house depending on the road conditions.

All systems make sure you have good clean filters in your returns. Those filters need to be replaced every 30-45 days at a max. No matter the MFG of filters that say 90 days. You will not get 90 days.

If your heat pump is not heating well switch it to emergency heat. Just know your system get fall 1 degree behind and run non stop. It will keep the house warm. Don’t close off bedrooms or other floor vents. Keep everything open and inside doors open to allow the system to breath and flow proper air throughout your home.

Gas systems. LP gas make sure you’re regulators outside are clear of any snow or snow drifts. This will help keep them from freezing up and stopping the flow of gas to your appliances. If you have a newer furnace that has a White PVC vent on it 90% or more efficiency it has a drain where condensate water goes outside just like in cooling season. Make sure that drain line is clear and does not have ice forming on it. It has the potential to freeze from the ground up and this will make your heat stop. Just knock the Iss off with your foot, hammer, piece of wood or something water should flow again and continue heating.

These are just some things to look for if your heat has stopped or you just want to be preventative during this extreme weather and snow. It can keep you from having issues and save you some money. We are here in the office to answer questions if you need us. Stay Safe and Warm today.

McBee HVAC Team.

Folks this is the weather when you turn your Heat Pump system to Emergency Heat or Auxiliary Heat. Once the freezing rain type of weather passes you can go back to normal heat operation. You do want to verify that you do not have ice blocking your outdoor fan motor and keeping it from spinning. You can take hot water and pour it on the fan blades to remove the ice from them and then go back to regular operation.

With this extreme cold forecast through the weekend your systems are going to continue with the long run times and possibilities of being behind on temp. Make sure you have good clean filters in your return grills. Also try to keep your house temp in a range of 68°-72°.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY will go into effect on Thursday at 10AM and run through 9AM on Friday for the possibility of light freezing rain and snow making for dangerous travel conditions.
