I have found that close and constant collaboration with the client is the key to job satisfaction. I solicit the client's participation at every step. If you work with me, it's your project as much as it is mine. And for only $35 an hour, you can pick and choose how best to use my time to your best advantage. One of my most successful approaches, is the "do it yourself with me" collaboration. Many

clients are fairly adept at home repair and would like to do as much of a given task as they can. Perhaps they are uncertain about only particular aspects of a job. I can bridge those gaps in their skill set in a number of ways. I can come to them on a purely consulting basis and explain the unfamiliar aspects, allowing them to continue on their own, or I can participate in just those tasks about which they are uncertain, or we can work together on the entire project. I am open to, and indeed encourage, the client's active participation at whatever level the client desires. My favorite collaboration is when the client's forte is their imagination. I am an excellent fabricator in exotic materials and artifacts. I love to design and fabricate the client's ideal vision of what they would want if anything were possible.
