Checking out the Selux Ritorno demo luminaire that just arrived at the office. In practice it attaches atop a steel pole to light driveways, parking lots and pathways. We're specifying it for a current project. LED unit shines up from cylinder and reflects off the disk. Very cool!

We haven't posted in a while so we have some catching up to do. Let's start with recent news and work backwards.
K+F was just selected to prepare a master plan for a town park at Higganum Cove, (Town of Haddam, CT). Higganum Creek was site of hydro-powered factories for hundreds of years beginning with a water wheel grist mill in the late 1600's. Other factories followed utilizing a head race channel, and eventually a long wooden flume and a big turbine in the basement.
The noxious byproducts of various manufacturing and a lot of illegal dumping resulted in a heavily contaminated site that was declare an EPA Superfund site.
It was finally remediated in 2016 and is now under Town control with funding in place for a visionary master plan. It's a magnificent site displaying glacial and tectonic geological phenomena, hand-hewn stone foundations, a waterfall, and a 9 acre wetland hosting all sorts of migratory birds, eagles, ospreys, fish, and waterfowl.
Higganum Creek flows out of the wetland, under the historic Valley Railroad into the Connecticut River.
Photos from our initial site visit including drone shots (the drone was dive bombed by an osprey but survived).

The Town of Groton is seeking to promote existing public coastal access areas in Mystic by creating an easily identifiable signage program, and linking the Coastal Access areas together to form the Mystic River Walk. The town is soliciting feedback on the proposed signs and overall master plan. Feedback will be collected through the month of May 2021.
