β οΈ The National Weather Service has issued a HEAT ADVISORY for the area through Friday, July 28. With the heat index, temperatures can dangerously reach UP TO 115 DEGREES.
βοΈThe City of Aurora is advising residents to take necessary precautions to stay safe.
π¨ The Aurora Transportation Center, 233 N. Broadway Ave. is open daily from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. for those who need an inside air-conditioned space to beat the heat.
STAY SAFE, STAY COOL
Staying in an air-conditioned indoor location as much as possible is the main action the City is reminding residents to take to prevent heat-related illnesses, injuries, and greater tragedies during hot weather.
Other measures include:

Drinking plenty of fluids, even if you donβt feel thirsty.

Scheduling outdoor activities carefully and pacing yourself.
β
Wearing loose, lightweight, light-colored clothing.
β
Wearing and reapplying sunscreen as indicated on the package.

Taking cool showers or baths to cool down.
β
Checking on friends and neighbors, especially the elderly and disabled.
β
Never leaving children or pets in cars.
β
Visiting indoor public spaces such as stores and malls.
β
Checking the local news for health and safety updates.
