“The Language of Flowers” was presented by Mimi Gallo, Chair of the Asian Art and History Series at Artis Naples. Mimi gave a fascinating history of the symbolism of flowers using medieval tapestries to Dutch still lifes, and ending with Monet and Van Gogh. The presentation was held at the Naples Botanical Garden for Ikebana International Naples Chapter #160. Mimi Gallo is the founder of a non-profit company, Art Partners, Inc. After the presentation, flowers were available for attendees to enjoy at home.

We are so honored that Ms. Kika Shibata of Las Vegas, NV a Sogetso Sensei of the highest rank, a RIJI, demonstrated at our Naples Ikebana Club's Annual Luncheon. Those in attendance had the opportunity to bid during the Silent Auction on beautiful arrangements donated by our members.

On March 4th our monthly meeting started with social time followed by the business meeting at Beuhler Hall in the Kapnick Center at the Naples Botanical Garden.

We enjoyed an inspiring program exploring the shared artistry of ikebana and bonsai, featuring Dorothy Demarest, a member of the Bonsai Society of Southwest Florida and Sensei Stephanie English of Ikenobo School of Ikebana. We learned how these Japanese art forms share the philosophy of harmony and balance.
