So, I am still making things eventhough I don't show all of them. Here are two custom vanitities for very small bathrooms. One is Maple and the other is white washed, old, reclaimed pine siding. Because we needed to get as much use as possible from these vanities, I made unique drawer boxes that fit around the sink. This gives handy space for a few item that are frequently used. I made formica tops by request rather than ordering stone tops. The sinks will be put in when everything is installed. Because almost none of this was standard, it was kind of an interesting build. ;-)

My last post showed two chest of drawers made from several types of wood. Well, I have now finished and put in place the whole package, which is a his and hers, side by side, chest with cabinet toppers. The cabinet toppers are made of the same wood types as the chest along with the added feature of leaded, stained glass doors. I did do the glass panels for the doors. The two pictures show the same thing in different light. Again, one of a kind, very different, either love or hate it, and I would understand. ;-)

Now here is a one-of-a-kind, pair of chest of drawers that I have been working on. I'm thinkin' you either love 'em or hate 'em. They are made with 5 different kinds of conifer type wood. The main frame structure is 100 yr old, heart pine. The side panels are old growth cyprus. Most of the drawer boxes are western cedar. The top drawer boxes, and all the handles are aromatic red cedar, and the drawer fronts and chest tops are birds eye, knotty pine. These pieces are put together using old school, mortise and tenon, and dove tail construction. I like the appearance of wood grain, so I like 'em. Can't put them in a catagory though. 😉

So - a while since posting. I have been working mostly on cabinets and vanities that are very much like the cabinetry you see everyday. However, I did make a couple of boxes lately that are posted here. One is Curly Maple with Black Walnut trim and the other is Cherry with Maple trim. Both are finished with clear lacqeur, lined with Aromatic Red Cedar, and have felt on the bottem and top, inside. Pretty little things and useful. ;-)

I have made two flags from the work surface and supporting 2x4s. This was my main work surface for some years. Lots of pieces of furniture, cabinets, speciality woodworking projects were assembled, glued, and finished on this surface. It has all the scars from this time of use. I made a large flag 60.25in x 33.25in, and a smaller one 33in x 19.5in. They are both pretty much to scale to an official flag. I painted the flag on the surface and framed each one with the 2x4s that supported the surface between two work horses.
All of the dings, cuts, holes and splotches are authentic, nothing added. They are interesting, rustic, and stand for the hard work that the working citizens of this country do. And --- they are for sale. The large on is $225 and the small one is $150. The 1st picture is the smaller flag and the 2nd picture is the larger flag. ;-)

Well, I have not posted in a while and it is not because I have nothing to show. It is because life happens. In Sept 2020 Hurricane Sally went through Baldwin Co. AL and really messed things up. I have a property there that had extensive wind and flood damage; a tree on the roof and 32 inches of water in the house. So it was a complete gut on the inside and a big roof repair. So with the jobs I had scheduled and the trying to keep down cost of repair by doing as much as I could of the rebuild and travel, I have been very, very busy. Here are a few pics with some captions. This is not all, but it is a little update.

I recently finished making some new cabinet doors and drawer fronts for a client who is doing a remodel on a condo here in town. The set of pictures here are before and after. The pictures with the blue tape tags are the before and the ones without the tape are the after. These units were made to use the same hinge locations on the cabinets, so it took some precise measuring and hardware locating to pull this off. I delivered the new units to the clients handyman for installation and they all went on and in place. When the new counter tops and appliances come, this little condo is gonna be spiffed up. ;-)

Here is the latest thing from Naples Precision Craft. This was quite a project. It is a Custom Range Hood Cover designed after a style chosen by my client. The 1st pic is the finished cover installed. The next set of pics goes through various stages in the building of this unit. The 2nd pic is the beginning. The range vent and pipe are already in place and my client wanted a curved vent hood. These two things really complicated this project. The 3rd pic shows the inside structure. This took a while to figure out. The 4th pic shows the basic structure mounted. Had to make sure this part worked before doing the rest. The 5th pic shows one stage of getting the "skin" on. This part was pretty tricky. The 6th pic is the unit with just skin. Now its needs dressing up and we are back to the 1st pick. Every part of this project is customized. ;-)

In November I posted the picture of the two Custom Trash Can Enclosure that I made for a Marina here in town. Well last week I delivered two more just like these. Here are some of the steps to make just one of these enclosures.
Start with regular dimension, cypress limber, accurately cut 44 component pieces, run the panel pieces through the router 66 times to make them tongue and groove, cut 20 mortises and 20 tenons on the framing pieces, 5 glue ups for the panels, 3 glue ups for the final assembly, plug 48 screw holes to cover reinforcement screws, lots and lots of sanding, staining, and finally 3 coats of outdoor spar poly. So I made 4 of these in total. Multiply every thing by 4. WHEW! ;-)

I delivered this bath vanity last week. It was made to replace a vanity that had water damage due to a long term leak. This new one was made to my clients specifications using cabinet grade poplar ply and solid poplar. It features a totally sealed center cabinet compartment, drawer boxes made from very high grade Baltic birch ply with dove tale joints, soft close under mount drawer hardware, profiled paneled doors, and very durable cabinet paint with color chosen by my client. I am counting on a picture from my client when this vanity is installed with its new granite top. This is a 100% upgrade from the previous builder grade vanity.

A few day ago I posted a pic my pickup bed loaded with panels for new doors and drawer fronts for a bath remodel. The handyman that I worked with did the install and he sent a picture of the upgrade. This bath is in an older condo and was really dated. Now, just about everything has been redone and the new cabinet doors and drawer fronts give the room a classy, sleek look. ;-)
