From a complete flooring failure to a floor built to last. 💪🏡
This loft in downtown Lowell came with a major surprise. The existing tile floor had completely failed—tiles were popping loose throughout the entire space due to poor bond and an uneven substrate.
Our first step was full demolition, hauling thousands of pounds of tile and debris down from the 4th-floor loft by elevator. Once everything was removed, it became clear the subfloor needed extensive preparation before new flooring could be installed.
To create a flat, solid surface, we poured 22 bags of self-leveling compound, giving the new floor the foundation it deserved.
From there we installed 950 square feet of 7½-inch glue-down engineered hardwood, finishing the project with new baseboards and quarter round for a clean, finished look.
Projects like this are a great reminder that a beautiful floor starts with what you don’t see. Proper preparation is what separates a floor that lasts for decades from one that fails after a few years.
We’re proud of how this one turned out!
