This home was blasted with glass media. We left the porch ceilings and soffits with the original stain to save the clients some money. After that we used Sashco's products and made two custom colors to match what remained. The walls have one heavy coat of Colorfast primer, two heavy coats of Capture stain and a layer of Cascade clear coat. The decks are coated in Sashco's Transformation siding and trim. Sashco's Flextint and several sample attempts made these color matches possible.

We believe the most important feature stains and sealants require on log structures is flexibility. Bond breakers like tape/backer rod allow caulk and chinking to break free in the center while remaining bonded on the top and bottom. Two point adhesion allows the logs to expand and contract without breaking the sealants. We've also used many different products over the years and recommend Sashco. Their stains and sealants remain flexible when applied properly and have the greatest long term protection.

We will be filling in the larger openings with Sashco's Conceal caulk. It stays super flexible to avoid tearing away, and it's textured to blend in.

This is why it's important to use stains and sealants specifically designed for log homes. These logs are coated in paint and interior Dap in the checks. There's no backer rod and it's caused the logs to hold water and decay out the centers. These logs will be replaced and the good ones stripped. Soon enough it will look brand new with proper stain and sealants from Sashco Log Homes.
