This might be a hot take but I think millennials are too nostalgic.

And I get it. There was a clear moment in all of our lives when the internet and technology seriously took over. And it seems normal to yearn for simpler times.

BUT guys we were also eating so many food dyes and being bombarded by milk propaganda (srly why was the dairy industry going to hard on ads in the 90s). We raw dogged mental health and had arguably too little supervision. But we romanticize this era perhaps because now we’re adults in a world that feels like it’s on fire.

So the question remains… were the 90s better or is being a kid just better than adulting 😅 because while “90s butter mom” is trending, I’m a bit confused bc we ate country crock.

I do think we’re longing for a bit more whimsy, a bit less structure and a bit of a slower pace for our kids. And that I can 100% get on board with. While I love a sensory table or a fun craft moment, this summer we’re trying to be intentional with slower days and open ended play.

Maybe we all know that a world full of scrolling and alarms and war and misogyny await them and for this little pocket of time, we can sit with them in the grass and splash in the creek. Catch me finding my inner 90s kid this summer, too!!

It feels like we just moved in and also that we’ve always been here.

This year I wanna tackle the dining room, our bedroom and the guest room (that doubles as an office and romp romp room).

But I also want to be really intentional about adding whimsy and little touches to our space. We still have tons of art and photos in storage that I’m ready to find homes for! Sometimes it takes living in a space for awhile to know what it’s missing 💝
