Adverse cultural and environmental issues predispose plants to insect and disease problems. Remember that hard freeze in December? Many ornamental plants are struggling and we know you're concerned. Allow us to take a look so we can form a plan together with your vision to care for what you have and replace anything that succumbs to the harsh conditions it's faced.

DAMAGED SHRUBS: We know you are concerned about the damage to your shrubs from the hard freeze middle TN experienced just before Christmas. We're concerned, too, but don't panic!
When the temperatures plunged so drastically and so quickly, our trees and shrubs did not have enough time to properly translocate the moisture inside their tissues. Because that moisture did not move from the leaves of the trees before the temperatures dropped so dramatically, the cell walls within the leaves burst, causing distress and death to parts of the tree. What we hope and believe may come to pass is that the exterior of many of these ornamental plants and trees will have taken the brunt of the damage and the interior will survive. For this reason we recommend not pruning out what appears to be dead just yet. Allow the tree to remain as it is through the winter. When the next growing season begins, we will be able to see what the tree is able to sustain and at that point can prune away what is no longer viable. 615-299-9999
