A surprise Rose of Sharon popped up in my back yard. Discovered as we were trimming other brush along the edges of the yard. I'm going to keep it. It's a pretty color flower. It matches the ones from the neighbor's house and a seed probably made it's way over here. Looks like some caterpillars have been munching it, but that's fine. It's in the back yard and I'm gonna leave it all alone. I try to be as natural as can be over here.

Certified TN Smart Yard over here at my house!! The dead tree in picture #2 is part of that. It allows a spot for bees and burrowing insects to nest, for woodpeckers to peck, for birds to perch on and come to my bird feeder, and it's a nice spot for this shallow hanging dish of water for pollinators. Bonus, the rotting tree in the soil makes excellent soil for flowers. This year, is day lilies growing there. I was so excited that my sign came today!

I trimmed this beautiful cherry plum tree and shaped it up in late fall for a client, and I'm so happy with how it looks now that it bloomed!

I want those top bits to grow down longer and drape so Iet them stay.
