Happy accidents. There’s one that happens almost every job. For this one, I’d initially spec’ed this tile to be laid in simple stripes but when I popped in to check on progress, it was already up in this staggered pattern. I ended up leaving it because I actually thought it was more fun. Not all accidents are happy of course, but this one was. Fun fact, I don’t think I’ve ever had a project where one of the tiles were installed wrong in 8 years. Maybe it’s me, I’m the problem. So deep breaths if you woke up to that scenario today.

Things I love about this early 1900’s home: the original doorbell. I just thought it was so cool that I was hearing what people would have heard 100 years ago when someone came to the door. I added my test run I just had to do when I first walked the house.

Porch to pantry. Here’s a look at where we started with the back porch on this 12 South Victorian and where we ended. The back side of the house had to be rebuilt but we wanted to keep the original window as a pass through from kitchen to pantry.

I know I’m supposed to slowly trickle my feed with professional shots of a finished project so I can stretch content, but I don’t care. I always love seeing how different rooms weave together in other homes. This is our 12 South project we finished this summer after almost 2 years of planning and rebuilding. I hope she lasts another 100 years.

“You seem so laid back.”
The evolution of this hood and proof that I am, in fact, not so laid back. These are the little hiccups that just happen in construction but my job is to limit the exposure to said hiccups did my clients so we’re not all crashing out. Human error is always the variable you can’t predict on any project. That goes for me as well because I’ve yet to make it through one without a mistake. Making it right is what matters and we always make it right. 👏🏻
