Happy 15 Years at Hawkins Partners to Nathan Oliver, ASLA!

Nathan joined Hawkins Partners in 2011 and has been a driving force behind some outstanding projects, including West Riverfront Park, the Cheekwood Sculpture Trail, Geodis Park, Mars Petcare, Peabody Plaza, and many others. His focus on civic and cultural landscapes, sustainable site design, and genuine public engagement shows up in every project he is involved with.

What makes Nathan's contributions distinct is that his investment in community doesn't stop at the projects he works on. From participating as a Board Member for local organizations like Walk Bike Nashville to serving as the President of the Lockeland Springs Neighborhood Association, he lives the values that shape his design work.

Fifteen years of thoughtful, people-centered practice. We're grateful for Nathan and everything he brings to this firm, our clients, and community.

Happy Roo! 🪩🎶🌈⛺
Hard to believe it’s already been 10 years since Hawkins Partners led the master planning team charged with developing a long-range plan for the Great Stage Park, a 700-acre farm that is home to the legendary Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival.

Bonnaroo has successfully created a unique event that remains true to its roots while continually refreshing itself each year.

With crowds of upwards of 80,000 people descending on the site for four days in June, the site becomes an “instant city” and has many of the same needs and characteristics as its permanent counterparts that have evolved over decades.

The master plan addressed on-site camping, transportation, access, utilities, pedestrian circulation, festival features, transit routes, venue layout, landscape improvements, landscape stewardship, and spaces throughout the festival.

To all the Roovians arriving in Manchester this weekend, have a great time and radiate positivity!

When Mars Petcare set down roots in Franklin, Tennessee, they weren't looking for a typical corporate campus.

Their 224,000-square-foot headquarters welcomed dogs as a matter of policy, which meant the landscape had to work harder than a few benches and a terrace. We designed flexible outdoor work areas, gathering spaces for programming, a café terrace, and a sprawling dog run, because when your employees bring their dogs to work every day, the outdoors becomes as much a part of the workplace as any conference room.

The result is a campus where the boundary between inside and out is genuinely open to interpretation — a new kind of workplace for a company that takes "people and pets belong together" seriously!

We're excited to welcome two talented landscape architecture students to this summer!

Elie Creswell joins us from the University of Tennessee, where she's pursuing her Master of Landscape Architecture. Elie brings a background rooted in art and sustainability, and a genuine passion for projects that bring people together and strengthen communities.

Carter Joyce is a rising senior at the University of Georgia studying Landscape Architecture. Carter's love of parks and the outdoors — and the way those spaces connect people — is exactly what drew him to the field.

We love seeing the next generation of landscape architects who are motivated by the same things we are: great design, meaningful places, and the communities that bring them to life.

Welcome, Elie and Carter!

60% green space. That's the ratio defining Belle Meade Village — a 15.5-acre mixed-use development taking shape at the gateway to one of Nashville's most iconic residential corridors.

Hawkins Partners is proud to have been part of this project since master planning began, shaping the public realm that gives Belle Meade Village its character: a central gathering plaza, an activated greenway corridor along Richland Creek, and a pedestrian network that ties it all together. Retail and dining. Residential towers. And landscape as the organizing principle.

Completion slated for 2028.

Hawkins Partners is proud to announce the promotions of Nick Hollopeter to Senior Associate and Lindsey Berringer to Associate.

Nick joined the firm in 2016 and has grown into one of our most versatile and dependable team members, leading projects across parks, urban office, multi-family, mixed-use, and hospitality — with standout contributions to Asurion, Amazon HQ, Belle Meade Village, the Edition Hotel, and more. His ability to lead a project while mentoring colleagues defines the kind of culture we strive to build.

Lindsey has been part of the Hawkins Partners team since 2019, building a strong portfolio in hospitality and multi-family work that spans Chamberlain House, The Starling, and several Modera communities across Nashville, among many others. Her collaborative approach and role in shaping our hiring and onboarding reflect exactly what it means to connect people to place — starting from within the firm itself.

As Partner Will Marth shared: watching both of them grow — Nick shaping projects and mentoring colleagues in the same afternoon, Lindsey bringing that same energy to design and to how we welcome someone on day one — is genuinely exciting.

Congratulations, Nick and Lindsey – these promotions are well deserved!

The Super Bowl is coming to Nissan Stadium in 2030!

The NFL has officially announced that Nashville will be the host of Super Bowl LXIV in 2030 with a unanimous vote by NFL owners at the league’s Orlando spring meeting.

We’ve been working behind the scenes for months as a part of the Architecture and Engineering team for the New Nissan Stadium and are so excited for this work to be on the global stage in 2030.

Hawkins Partners was a member of the original design team for the Titans Stadium along the Cumberland River in 1999, and has since worked on countless projects that have contributed to the activation of Nashville’s riverfront both on the East and West banks. We’re honored to be able to continue this work in a burgeoning East Bank neighborhood where neighbors and the community will be welcomed to the New Nissan Stadium.

At the recent Harvard Real Estate | Campus Services Monthly Salon, Brian Phelps, Sr. Partner at Hawkins Partners, shared his diagnostic framework for opening the black box between proximity and innovation, and what the environment either makes possible or quietly prevents.

Most innovation districts are built on the promise of proximity. Put the right people close enough together, and innovation will happen.

Sometimes it does. The question is why it doesn't.

How awareness becomes connection. How connection becomes discovery. How discovery becomes something people can act on. That's what lives inside the black box.

Stay tuned for more insights from Brian on the difference between districts that fill and districts that perform!

We’re so proud to be part of the team bringing Vanderbilt University's new Stevenson Center 6 to life.

Situated at the intersection of Central Campus and the Historic Core, the 200,000+ SF building is designed to bridge three schools — the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Engineering, and the School of Basic Sciences — in a setting inspired by natural systems. Landscape planting, natural daylight, and material connection to the arboretum campus are woven into the building's DNA from the ground up. Hawkins Partners is contributing landscape design to this transformative 10-story interdisciplinary research facility.

Groundbreaking is expected this summer, with completion in 2028. We're honored to help shape a place where discovery and community meet.
