Hi, I’m Scott Bennet, owner of My Guy LLC. I recently retired as a project engineer at the Natick Soldiers System Command. I am now pursuing my passion of working with my hands and meeting new people every day. While working on making helmets safer for our service members and raising our two children with my wife, I’ve spent the last 30 years working on our home. I built a breezeway and garage add

ition, put down tile and wood flooring, hung drywall, replaced windows, and so many more projects. I have my Construction Supervisor’s License, am a registered Home Improvement Contractor, am fully insured, and would welcome the opportunity to work in your home. Small jobs are my specialty, so don’t hesitate to ask about small projects.

A Natick resident recently discovered MyGuy on Facebook and reached out for help with several small projects. Her top priority was repairing the rotted end of a wooden planter so she could finish planting for the season.

Because she planned to replace the entire planter at the end of the year, she wanted a solution that was both quick and cost-effective. Using scrap lumber already on hand, MyGuy replaced the damaged end and reinforced the planter with two pointed 2x6 stakes driven into the ground for stability and support.

In just a few minutes, the repair was complete, and the planter was ready for fresh soil, new plants, and many more months of use. Another simple, practical fix.

MyGuy is always happy to tackle unique and unusual projects! One of my longtime clients has a custom-made bird house crafted from a hollow wood turning, with a single opening for birds to enter and exit. She wanted a way to clean out the inside of the feeder at the end of each season without damaging its appearance.

To solve the problem, I used a hole saw to cut a 2-3/8" access opening in the bottom of the bird feeder and created a removable plug. I then added a brass k**b to hold the plug during removal and reinstallation and a 1/8" brass rod to retain the plug in the bird house. Brass was chosen for both components because it won’t rust and will hold up outdoors.

No job is too small—or too unusual—for MyGuy!

Oftentimes when MyGuy is coming out to complete a task, a client will ask for MyGuy to handle something else. Today the client had a very simple task – attach a broom handle to a broom. Turns out the nut was missing. Fortunately I carry a large assortment of nuts, bolts, screws, and other hardware. After finding the correct nut, the broom was back together, ready for sweeping.

No matter how small the task, MyGuy is here to help! I recently returned to a long-time client’s home to knock out two minor projects, including securely mounting a bracket for a prized plant. By placing it in front of the window, she can now enjoy her favorite plant in a beautiful, prominent space.

One of MyGuy Southboro’s clients had a long to-do list, including improving the appearance of a water stain on their garage ceiling in a cost-effective way. A dishwasher above the ceiling had leaked and caused the stain. Rather than repainting the entire two-bay garage ceiling, the goal was simply to make the stain far less noticeable.

MyGuy applied a stain-blocking primer to the affected area, significantly improving the appearance without the expense of painting the whole ceiling. While a slight difference can still be seen, the client was happy with the economical repair and the overall result.

A longtime client recently purchased a table and chairs for her grandson but found the assembly process overwhelming. The set was 35 individual wooden pieces. One call to MyGuy, and we were on the job! I quickly sorted and organized all the pieces, quickly assembled it, and even helped load it into her vehicle so she could deliver it to her daughter’s home. MyGuy is always happy to lend a helping hand and make life a little easier for our clients!

MyGuy is often called in to install shelves and hook racks—but just as often, he’s brought in to fix installations by others that didn’t hold up.

Today’s project in Southborough started with a message from the client and a photo of a fallen coat rack—just one more item on his to-do list. This wasn’t something MyGuy originally installed. The rack had been mounted with four screws straight into drywall, one nail, and a single plastic anchor… not enough to support heavy coats and jackets.

MyGuy located the wall studs and reinstalled the rack using #9 screws driven 1½ inches into the stud, solid wood. Now it’s secure, sturdy, and will last for the long term.

A returning customer recently called MyGuy LLC for help with a lingering nuisance. After a past flood, her flooring was replaced—but the new floor sat slightly higher than the original. The result -- a utility door that scraped the floor every time it opened.

No problem for MyGuy. We scribed a line parallel to the new floor (about 3/8” up), trimmed the door to match, and reinstalled it for a perfect fit. Now the door opens smoothly, with a clean, even gap along the bottom—just the way it should be. Another small fix that makes a big difference!

A few years back, MyGuy helped a client out with a quick, temporary fix when their mailbox post had rotted at the base. The plan was to replace it with a new post—but life got busy for the client and he never selected a new post. Fast forward to last week… the old repair finally gave out. No problem—MyGuy stepped in again and got it stabilized with another temporary fix to keep the mailbox up and running. Sometimes a quick fix is all you need in the moment—but don’t wait too long on that permanent solution! If your mailbox (or anything else around your home) needs attention, MyGuy’s here to help.
