Northampton County Seed Company Northampton County Seed Company is a family run seed business started by the Walker family in 1950. Northampton County Seed Company Inc.

was created out of a dream held by Agnes & Harry Walker. These two people, my parents, dreamed of a seed business where customers could buy seeds, fertilizer, and chemicals. But the dream went beyond this. They wanted a seed business where the customer would gain knowledge and advice to go along with the seed, fertilizer and chemicals. The business would be more than simply a trading place for goods. Northampton County Seed would be a business where the customer and his needs came first.

Soil temperature causes germination.
New grass seed will germinate - once the soil temperature gets to around 55 degrees.
Soil temperature at the Northampton County Seed Company was 43 yesterday morning.
New grass will start to grow in about 10 days after the soil temperature reaches 55 degrees.
Now is the time for preventative pre-emergent crabgrass treatment, before the rising soil temperature triggers the crabgrass to germinate.
It has been cooler than usual so far this season, so all of the grass seed remains dormant.
If you are inclined to watch the grass grow, be patient this year.
