Too often, the architectural process becomes fragmented as projects move between teams and staff. At r.3a, every project remains personal. From the first conversation and earliest conceptual sketches through construction and completion, you work directly with Howard Raley.

With more than two decades of experience in New England’s high-end modern residential market, the studio brings a deeply hands-on approach to architecture, pairing thoughtful modern design with trusted relationships across consultants, builders, interior designers, and craftspeople.

While the practice serves clients throughout New England, there is a particular focus on the Lake Sunapee region of New Hampshire as this is where Howard enjoys spending time with family + friends. r.3a strives to design homes that respond thoughtfully to the unique Lake Sunapee landscape + views, light, seasonality, and the character of place.

Every project begins with a careful understanding of the site, the client’s vision, and the opportunities unique to the property. The result is a tailored process grounded in clarity, collaboration, and enduring design.
