Perfect night temps to initiate Phalaenopsis flower spikes are happening in N.E. WI. Check your local forecast.

Mid 50’s to lower 60° F at night produce flower spikes.

Crack a window/door to allow Phals/ Dtps to bathe in Nature’s ideal night temps.
Watch for bright green pointed spikes to emerge at the base of the plants. Once spikes have initiated cooler night temps are no longer required.

Dendrobium nobile transformation Part 1

Envision all these canes and divisions growing in a six inch pot in the slatted teak basket. Huge yes?

The owner wants a nice
size compact plant to take home.

Many interruptions later painstakingly removed the keikis plus carefully divided the plant in many divisions. Sometimes you need to take apart and rebuild as it was in this case.

Next step: Put divisions back together at the same height so they grow, produce buds, and bloom, multiple times on a mature plant.

Tom wants a compact nice sized plant which allows me to offer many divisions of this beauty in the near future. I’ve sold hundreds of these in the past at many shows. See photo in comments.

One of my favorite compact Dendrobium nobiles.
Oh yes it has a heavenly FRAGRANCE.

Start collecting.
Buckets, pails, bowls. Clean/sterilize before using including watering cans. Yes, watering cans.

✔️ When was the last time you washed/sterilized your water cans? Ever? I just did.

✔️ Collecting large quantities off the roof? Wait til a couple heavy downpours then start collecting. Make sure gutters are debris free.

If storing water more than a couple weeks add a couple drops Physan 20 per gallon.

Physan 20 is a multi purpose product. Algicide, Fungicide, Bactericide, Virucide.

• Great for bird baths to prevent algae and mosquito breeding.
