Even though our courtyard is covered in snow, our students have been busy making thank you cards for local businesses who have donated to the creation of our school garden. In the next couple weeks we will be meeting with Dan Perkins and Gary Perala who will be building + filling our raised beds.

Our Donors Choose was fully funded and those items are being stored in our school greenhouse which is also getting fixed up for planting seeds come April.

We continue to welcome donations which can be mailed to the address below. Thank you, again, to the following businesses. We are grateful for everyone who has invested in our students through this project! 💚🌱☀️

Fall Bulb Planting — Our Early Childhood Special Education classes and our High Needs Resource Room class at Lakeview Elementary School planted tulip and daffodil bulbs in our courtyard garden this past week. It seems like winter but the soil next to the building was not frozen so they took to it with spoons, dug holes and dropped in their bulbs. The dedicated and loving staff worked their magic to make this happen. We are excited to watch the children see the flowers bloom in the Spring. They will make bouquets with the flowers to sell at a Spring fundraiser.

More to come on this special project as we are working closely with Partridge Creek Farms and the Lions Club to build our raised beds for vegetables in the Spring.

We have an active Donors Choose and Tuesday, November 29th is a match day.

Thank you for helping us grow + watching us grow!

Our courtyard clean-up has been a labor of love. We removed the old in ground posts, cut back overgrown bushes, removed decayed bushes and raked. Husbands have helped their teacher wives with volunteering their time and vehicles. WIN Lawncare allowed us to use a dump trailer to haul away debris.

We are a committee of teachers who share a vision to turn our courtyard into edible school garden with perennials and annuals as well.

We are excited to introduce the children to this project as they will be hands on in the building, cultivating, planting, tending and harvesting.

We hope to include community members who would be honored to share their love of gardening as well.

Join us as we grow!
