Take 30 seconds. 🌊🌿

No scrolling. No multitasking.
Just waves… water… and plants.

Research consistently shows that spending time around green spaces can lower stress, improve mood, and help restore mental focus. Being near blue spaces—like the ocean, a bay, or a lake—has been linked to feelings of calm, reduced anxiety, and greater overall well-being. Even just 10–20 minutes in nature can make a measurable difference in how you feel.

Yesterday’s waterfront project in Lloyd Harbor was a reminder that great landscape design isn’t just about creating something beautiful—it’s about creating places where people can breathe a little deeper.

If this gave you 30 seconds of peace, my job here is done. 💚

🌿 Unboxing some of the most unique houseplants I’ve ever received!

Verdant Lyfe recently sent over a package, and I couldn’t wait to see what was inside.

📦 First up: a Pink Quill air plant with its stunning bright pink bloom. Unlike most houseplants, air plants don’t grow in traditional soil and have their own unique care requirements.

📦 Next: a Pink Sundew carnivorous plant. This fascinating little plant catches insects using sticky tentacles and gets nutrients from its prey. Nature is incredible.

📦 They also included a plant journal and pen set, which is perfect for tracking watering schedules, growth, blooms, and all those plant-parent notes we swear we’ll remember.

I love discovering plants that are a little different from the usual houseplants. Every plant has a story, and these are definitely conversation starters.

Which one would you add to your collection first—the bug-eating sundew or the Pink Quill? 🌿

Comment LYFE and I’ll send you the link to shop these unique indoor plants.

🌱 What’s growing in my edible garden this year?

Believe it or not, everything in this graphic is growing in just TWO raised beds:

🪴 One 4’ x 8’ raised bed that’s 12” deep
🪴 One 2’ x 12’ raised bed that’s 18” deep

Together, they’re producing tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, peas, beans, cabbage, cauliflower, greens, herbs, berries, tomatillos, pumpkins, watermelon, and more. 🍅🥒🫐🌶️

One of the biggest gardening myths is that you need a huge yard or acres of land to grow a lot of food. The truth is, with thoughtful plant spacing, vertical growing, companion planting, and succession planting, even a small space can be incredibly productive.

My goal was simple: grow as much food as possible while creating a beautiful garden that’s just as enjoyable to sit in as it is to harvest from.

What’s your favorite thing to grow in a raised bed? 👇

POV: you planted a hedge before you were emotionally, physically, or financially prepared to plant a hedge. 🌿

Back in 2022, I had the vision but skipped the foundation work because I didn’t want to do the labor (or pay for it 😅). So I dug some holes, shoved everything in the ground, and hoped for the best.

This side yard planting was designed as a layered flowering buffer between the two houses:
✨ Krauter Vesuvius flowering plum
✨ Crape myrtle
✨ Autumn cherry
✨ White tulip tree
✨ Vanilla Strawberry hydrangeas
✨ Summer Crush hydrangeas

And honestly? The plants still did OK but they deserved better.

For years they battled turf grass, creeping ivy, drought stress, and several unfortunate lawn mower decapitations. Some bounced back. A few Summer Crushes were taken out in cold blood. 🪦

But this year we’re finally doing it right:
✔️ ripping out the grass
✔️ reclaiming the bed edge
✔️ tilling in organic matter + composted manure
✔️ cardboard sheet mulching
✔️ deep mulch layer
✔️ giving the roots room to actually thrive

Gardening will humble you because sometimes the problem isn’t the plant… it’s the prep.

The best part? Even after neglect, mow downs, and lawn competition, the original vision is finally starting to show itself. 🌸

Follow along to see the full transformation as everything fills in and starts blooming.

🥬✨ From the garden to the plate in minutes.

Today’s harvest: homegrown mixed baby greens, green leaf lettuce, red leaf lettuce, kale, parsley, chives, and green scallions—all grown right here in my backyard. 🌱

There’s just no comparison. Once you’ve tasted lettuce that was harvested minutes before it hits your plate, it’s hard to go back to store-bought greens that were harvested days (or weeks) ago, packaged, shipped across the country, stocked on shelves, and slowly aging in the fridge.

Did you know lettuce is actually a cool-season crop? Here in Zone 7B, I grow mine from late winter through spring (February–May/June), then start sowing again in September for a fall harvest. 🥗

And when summer heat starts creeping in, you don’t have to give up on fresh greens. Baby lettuce is perfect for succession sowing in shadier spots around the garden. Think beneath tomatoes, under zucchini leaves, or anywhere that gets a little afternoon protection from the sun.

One of my favorite tricks is giving lettuce a good soak 15–30 minutes before harvest. It perks up the leaves and gives them a nice drink before heading to the kitchen.

Fresh. Simple. Delicious. And just a few steps from the back door. 💚

Seeds from and lettuce & kale starts from .

What’s growing in your salad bowl this year?

POV: You leave your phone unattended for 30 seconds 🌿😂

I had no idea Mia grabbed my phone and started filming her own garden tour. Once I realized what she was doing, I couldn’t stop laughing and just let her keep going.

Watching the garden through her eyes was the sweetest surprise. 🥹💚

And don’t mind our pajamas—we take our morning garden walks very seriously around here. 😂
