Installed a 50-amp generator inlet with an interlock to allow this home to safely connect a portable generator during a power outage.

This generator is rated 12,000 watts at 120/240 volts, which means it’s capable of producing up to about 50 amps of 240-volt power to the home.

However, just like any electrical system, it’s best to only load a generator to about 80% of its capacity for reliable operation. That means roughly 40 amps of usable power for running household essentials.

That’s typically enough to keep things like:
⚡ Refrigerator & freezer
⚡ Lights and outlets
⚡ Internet and TV
⚡ Microwave and small kitchen appliances
The interlock kit prevents the generator from backfeeding the utility lines, which protects linemen and keeps the installation code-compliant.

Wrapped up a nice mix of lighting and fixture updates on this project:

💡 Installed 30 recessed LED lights throughout the space
🔧 Centered a ceiling fan in the main room for better balance
🔄 Swapped out an older fan with a new one
💎 Finished it off with a crystal chandelier install

Some recent work I completed at The Landon at Lake Highlands — I replaced their old, broken, and outdated fountain lights with new energy-efficient LED fixtures. I also installed and connected power for their new fountain pump.

The last photo shows the new lights installed and turned on, just before the fountain was cleaned and filled.
