Easy swarm catch yesterday And we have a new beekeeper in the neighborhood. Will help him get set up with more boxes and tear them later this week. Sorry the sound quality is horrible. I think my camera man had his finger over the microphone lol.

People ask what causes honeybees to swarm?

Swarming is the way honeybees reproduce and populate. When I hive gets to the point where it’s getting full and overpopulated the bees will make a new queen and the original queen fly off with a good portion of the worker bees and will fly off and land somewhere nearby in a ball like the first picture. They’ll stay there while the scout bees go out in search for a new home. Once they find a good spot the ball of bees will take off and start their new home. So one hive turned into two assuming the new queen successfully goes out on her mating flight and returns mated.
