Its pruning season! Before and after pics do no justice.

Met a Quince tree for the first time in a long time. Such a beautiful tree and so rare.

We can prune it all, lets grow more food ...locally!!

Gave Good Earth Farm's driveway trees a haircut.

We're hoping this will keep the sun on the driveway longer in the winter and avoid a frozen driveway as well as reduce the ability for oriental bittersweet to run up the trees and choke them out.

Diospyros virginiana

Went for a walk at the Arnold Arboretum and noticed a big ole tree loaded with some sort of fruit. It was an American Persimmon!!!

Haven't tasted these delicious fruit in a long time! Mmmmmm mm good!

Most likely a seedling fruit. The tag said it was planted in 1896 😍

What a special tree! My kids were hesitant to try them but Dad was scarfing them off the ground.

Gardeners are hard to come by these days. I was lucky enough to meet a wonderful woman named Carmen who was raised in Michoacán, Mexico. She lives in Fallbrook, CA and i met her while visiting my kids.

She had hundreds of Valencia orange trees in her orchard, guavas, figs, avocados, tomatoes (as ground covers) and mangoes. The mango tree was loaded!

Her mother started the mango tree from a seed, passing down the tradition to her.

She was cultivating this land for 35 years and was happy to share some of her tree peppers, plumaria, and yerba santa.

Her essence was very inviting, and warm. She told stories of her kids and how successful they were in their ventures. She was saddened by the fact they didnt find the same joy that she has for the earth and her fruits.

We all have a little bit of Carmen in us, we just need to cultivate it little by little.

Nature's gifts are endless

Went for a run today after dropping of my truck at the short. It was going well until it turned into a walk after i rolled my ankle. It was right by a SLOW DOWN sign along the road... either way i love the speed of walking or running. Its like the speed of a sail boat. A little fast but not too fast.

1. American hazelnuts ripening up nicely
2. Angelica that went to seed
3. Little blue stem patch in Henniker
4. Black gum fruit
5. Wild grapes blushing
6. Mountain Ash
7. Elderberry

My phone battery died but also on the walk but not pictures; Wild Raisin that I tasted for the first time!! Really tasted like a raisin
Highbush cranberry
And of course a roadside apple

Take a walk and enjoy the scene!

Shagbark hickory seedling...critter sown

Threw some seeds out the last two falls, just broadcasted them. The chipmunks and squirrels ate their share and planted some too!

Don't know whats taken me so long to sow and grow pole beans. For the space they take up and their productivity it makes perfect sense.
