Today let’s talk about saving some trees! At the New Braunfels Civic Center from 3-5 is the Friends of the Library stuff a bag sale!!!! Get all the books, puzzles, cds dvd and magazines you can stuff in a bag for 5 bucks, no limit. Cookbooks, romances, best sellers, childrens books, young adult and self help and education. For remarkable prices and a great cause!!! Its a great recycling opportunity too! It’s a once a year thing, don’t miss it!!! Here are some of the cool things I got.

Hi friends! I’m reminding you that October is an especially great time to appreciate trees. Most of our local nurseries (H‑E‑B too) have great selections of trees that grow beautifully here, and planting early in the fall gives your new tree time to establish its roots before it gets broiling next summer. If you’d like to see some great examples of local trees, check out Camp Huaco Springs, next door to our now-closed location on River Road. It’s quiet, and gorgeous and plenty warm enough to float or swim. Bring your family for Columbus Day or any day.

Hi Friends! We’re no longer open as River Road Nurseries, but come see our new gig just down the road at Camp Huaco Springs! Our summer guests have gone home and there’s plenty of quiet and shade while it’s still warm enough to swim. Plus, this weekend start from here and enjoy the free mermaid festival in San Marcos or the ever popular Comal County Fair in beautiful New Braunfels.

Hi friends! It’s been awhile! Hope you are all doing great this summer. Mike and my new gig at Camp Huaco Springs is going great, stop by and see us sometime there, just a few hundred yards up the road from our old yellow gate. We’re selling rainbow tubes, beer and camping instead of trees now, but we’re still enjoying the beauty of the Guadalupe river and the Texas Hill Country. Come check us out!

But don’t forget to water your trees!!!

Hi friends! If you’re looking to Just Enjoy One Normal Fall thing Dress up the kids and come check out the Pumpkin Patch at First United Methodist Church and Greune United Methodist Church in New Braunfels. Heck, take a little road trip and check out Seguin United Methodist Church too! Have a few photos, pick up a pumpkin, and know you are making a difference in the youth programs of those organizations.They are open now through October sometimes on the honor system if you are looking for weekdays with less people. Check them out and while you are at it, if you are feeling the need of a Church, hey, you’ll already be at one, see what they have to offer!

I love the fall, y’all! Today’s the last day of the Comal County Fair and a beautiful day it is! Come on out, see what great crafts and gardens your neighbors have been up to while they’ve been at home. Ride some rides, pet some animals, eat some fair foods! I have a new favorite this year —how have I made it this far in life without eating fried Oreos? Sounds disgusting, tastes like a beignet with creamy chocolate filling-yuuummmm! And hey, how about a fried chicken sandwich, yeah man!

Come on out! I’ll be at the lion’s booth whipping up some with love. Gotta keep those new skills coming in retirement, right? Hope to see you there!
