I had a row in the garden that wasn’t being used so I decided to try four varieties of beans.
The first harvested is Jacob’s cattle beans. One belief is that is originates from the northeastern United States and southeastern Canada. The Passamaquoddy people of Maine were said to have given some as a gift to Joseph Clark, the first Caucasian child born in Lubec, Maine in the 1600s.

I cannot believe how this plant is producing. Wow!!

Julie told me don’t grow so many green beans. We harvested over 4 bushels last year in 50 foot row. She canned most of them. First pick from 25 foot row over a bushel. Haha
Time to break up enough for tonight.

Time to harvest my purple broccoli. I managed to keep all of the pest away. A bushel of broccoli means I’ll be freezing a big portion of the harvest

It’s pea pickin time. Very large, I have to remember to grow this variety again.
I think I’ll make some homemade soup with some of these.
What’s your favorite recipe for peas?

I tried a trick this summer with my peppers. Pruning at the right place and time gives me two main branches. In theory twice the harvest.
