As you know, the Moon has a dark side – our Riga Residence project has only bright sides πŸŒ’ Shall we look behind one of them?

From the lake side at night, the villa evokes associations with a luxurious modern yacht – the proportions are stretched horizontally, creating terraces that can be called decks. On the upper floor we have created two outdoor lounges for sunbathing, on the 1st floor level we have divided the space. On the east side, after leaving the kitchen, there is a place where the family can enjoy an outdoor meal surrounded by a decorative pool. On the west, a private SPA extends beyond the interior, ending with a swing next to an outdoor fireplace πŸ”₯ A boat garage is often built into the water level on the yacht – the residence is equipped with a spacious parking for 7 cars.

By the way, we have also provided a place for the boat 🚀 – along special rails, the boat can be comfortably dragged into a dry dock, for which a special concrete capsule was created in the relief. What associations does this house evoke in you? πŸ˜‰

Architectural idea… What do you think it is? For us at .architects, this is not only the external effect of the bright image of the building, but first of all a thoughtful and reasonable combination of form and function; what is called tectonics.

In the project of the residence in Riga, over which we recently opened the veil of secrecy, tectonics formed the basis for the development of the building. The transformation of a morally outdated pseudo-classical building into an ultra-modern 21st century residence initially seemed an impossible task, but we love creative challenges. After measurements and analysis, the workshop specialists found out that the building is based on a clear and geometric structure of a reinforced concrete frame. We preserved this "skeleton", reinforced the local nodes with steel beams, and completely dismantled the decorative shell; after that, the subject of our research was indoor insolation. For us and the client, the movement of the sun was important, and the building was thought out with a clear timeline of sunlight entering certain areas.

Based on analytics, we have made a map of the premises, built around a spectacular plastic geometry, worked with the proportion of glass in the mass of the wall. The final stage was the planning of the sequence of construction works, taking into account the local peculiarities of Latvia. The illustration shows a diagram of how the shell of the building was created and developed in the process.

This bathroom is about the mood.

There are projects in which geometry plays the dominant role, in others - color, somewhere ornament and decor come to the foreground… Here we emphasized the air and space with literally three strokes🎨

The first touch: of course, we put the bathtub right next to the window. We searched for a long time, stopping at the laconic and at the same time elegant Knife model.

Then they lined the walls with inserts, obscuring the rhythm of architecture outside the window. The verticals were emphasized with strokes of towel rails and suspended lights.

We just had to add gloss to the walls and let the light into the depths of the room… to feel the serenity and stop, freeze, enjoying the moment - you do not need bright effects🀍

Today we want to talk about an important subject- thinking through architecture and interior design at the initial stages.

Already at an early stage of construction, the architect must clearly understand the sequence of repair work and know all the names of materials, including thicknesses, specifications and details, so that when performing the final work on the site, it was possible to clearly coordinate all the stages of installation, and competently connect the work of subcontractors for the production of cabinet furniture, glass, tiles and light.

In our newly implemented project, the .architects team designed an unusual and atypical hanging kitchen for household use. For the manufacture of which, already at the stage of creating the concept, we thought out a system of a metal frame that was welded on the object and mounted in a reinforced concrete wall. Thus, we managed to hang kitchen cabinets with a countertop without any problems and make them float. The separation from the floor gave the space of the room more air and volume.

Between the vertical shelves and the hanging cabinets of the kitchen, we installed a full-height mirror from floor to ceiling. It created an infinity effect, doubled the space and filled the room with a lot of light. The mirror is specially brought into the same plane with porcelain stoneware slabs, to create a uniform wall without differences. To do this, due to the difference in the thickness of the plates and the mirror, the rough surface under the mirror was plastered in advance, for which the plaster layer was increased by 3 times.

Speaking of the main thing, it should be noted that for the successful implementation of a complex architectural and design project, you need to have a number of highly specialized knowledge that designers at AMMG Architects have been working on for years.

Therefore, the sources must be placed near the mirror and above the bathroom or shower.

The structure of surfaces and textures of materials were especially important for our clients, the nuances of which were thoroughly discussed at each meeting. We have created a harmonious space in a gentle color scheme using complex textures. This combination facilitates to create a sense of comfort and security, which disposes to rest and deep sleep. The suede wall panels integrated at the headboard of the bed created a more enveloping atmosphere and improved the sound insulation of the room. This is a really spectacular technique to ensure privacy and security.🧘🏻 The most elaborated was the solution of multi-scenario lighting with a variety of backlights of curtains and furniture, as well as the implementation of dimmers that allow to adjust the intensity of light.

WE are Vadim Martynov and Ekaterina Gatilova, the founders and inspirers of the architectural company in Europe, created back in 2012.

In 2010, after graduating from the institute, we joined forces, and after 4 months we were not afraid to take up a house with an area of 5400 sq. ft. (500 sq.m.). How we got it - we'll tell you and show you next time, but now about the major thing! Next was a house of 19400 sq. ft. (1800 sq.m.), the first office appeared and the first employees. We grew and studied with our team - the desire to make the best architecture was unchanged, not to be afraid of making bold decisions, to defend our positions and achieve flawless implementation of our projects, putting our soul into each of them.
