🖤🧠 Brain Cacti in Skull Planters Have Arrived! 🧠🖤

I couldn’t resist these little weirdos.

Each one looks like a tiny brain growing right out of a skull, and honestly, they’re the perfect mix of spooky, quirky, and adorable. 🌵💀

Brain cacti (Mammillaria elongata ‘Cristata’) get their unique shape from a natural mutation that causes them to grow in those fascinating folds and ridges instead of the typical cactus form. No two are exactly alike, which means every skull gets its own little personality.

These low-maintenance oddballs love bright light, occasional watering, and plenty of opportunities to make your visitors ask, “Wait… is that a brain?” 😂

I’ll have these available at the next pop-up, but fair warning—they’re the kind of plant that tends to disappear quickly once people see them in person.

Mark your calendars this June 14 2-6pm at the Fort Wayne Garden Party Inc annual Swap and Shop at Ambrosia Orchard Cidery and Meadery.

Who else has a soft spot for plants that are a little strange? 🖤🌵💀

✨NEW TC inventory coming soon ✨

🧪🌱 Let's talk Tissue Culture! 🌱🧪

I know "tissue culture" can sound a little intimidating or super scientific, but it's actually one of the coolest things happening in the plant world.

In the simplest terms, growers can take a tiny piece of a plant—sometimes incredibly small—and grow it in a sterile lab environment on a nutrient-rich gel. That tiny piece eventually develops into a whole new plant that's genetically the same as the original. Pretty amazing, right?

What's even cooler is that this isn't some brand-new technology. Scientists have been working with plant tissue culture for over 100 years, and commercial growers have been using it for decades.

As a plant lover, I think tissue culture has done so much good for our hobby. 💚

Remember when certain plants were nearly impossible to find and cost hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars? Tissue culture has helped make many of those dream plants more available and affordable. It also helps reduce pressure on wild plant populations and allows growers to produce healthy plants on a larger scale.

Some people hear "lab-grown" and think it makes a plant less special, but I actually think it's pretty incredible. A tiny piece of plant, a little science, a lot of patience, and eventually it ends up growing in someone's home and bringing them joy.

Honestly, the more plants that can make their way into the hands of fellow plant lovers, the better. 🌿✨

Science giving us more plants? That's something I can get behind.

🔥✨ Meet the stunning ✨🔥

Epipremnum pinnatum ‘Golden Flame’

This climbing beauty is basically what happens when a golden pothos levels up. 💛🌿 New leaves emerge in bright golden-yellow tones before deepening into rich green as they mature, giving the plant that “glowing flame” look it’s named for.

One of the coolest things about this plant? As it matures and climbs, it develops those gorgeous fenestrations (natural splits and holes in the leaves) that make mature pinnatums so addictive to collect. And yes — the ones I have already have the fenestrations. 👀🔥🌿

Unlike standard pothos, pinnatums tend to fenestrate earlier and develop a much more dramatic tropical look over time. Give it bright indirect light, something to climb, and watch it absolutely take off. Moss pole lovers, this one’s for you. 🪴✨

Fast growing ✔️
Rare-ish and eye catching ✔️
Easy care ✔️
Looks like jungle magic ✔️

Honestly hard not to stare at this one. 😍

🌺 Meet the Hawaiian Palm 🌺(aka Brighamia insignis — though it’s actually NOT a palm at all 👀)

This rare beauty is native to the sea cliffs of Hawaii and is one of the most unique plants you’ll ever see. With its chunky succulent trunk, glossy green leaves, and fragrant yellow flowers, it honestly looks like something straight out of a tropical fantasy movie. 🌴✨

Fun fact: the Hawaiian Palm is actually extinct in the wild and survives today thanks to growers and collectors helping preserve it in cultivation. 💛

Despite its exotic look, it’s surprisingly easygoing:☀️ Loves bright indirect light💧 Prefers to dry out between waterings🪴 Enjoys well-draining soil like a cactus mix🌺 Can bloom with sweet-smelling yellow flowers ( Google her to see the amazing blooms 😍)

It’s also nicknamed “Cabbage on a Stick,” which is honestly both rude and accurate 😂

If you love weird, rare, conversation-starting plants… this one checks every box. 🌿
