Before Luckey Climbers was founded, Tom was obsessed with Merry go rounds, if you asked him for a glass of water, he would offer you a merry go round. These were no ordinary carousels, his vision was for a hand powered contraption where the seats would zig zag around 6 rotating columns in a grand right and left pattern. Lots of moving parts, lots of adjustments, loads of personality. He made models and mock-ups, dreamt of solutions and made them in the front yard and eventually, put one on wheels to try his luck in Central Park. Although the rock never rolled, he pushed it with all his might until one day he was plucked from obscurity by the and away he went!

40 years ago, this iconoclastic, Dylan worshipping, beatnik started Luckey Climbers with his first commission at the Boston Children’s Museum , and here we are today, all over the world, spreading joy and passion everywhere we go!! I wish he were here today to celebrate this beautiful milestone - happy 40th anniversary!
