🚨❄️ Weather Update 🥶BOSH Home Solutions LLC ❄️🚨

Due to severe weather and unsafe road conditions, we are closed today for the safety of our team and customers.

All scheduled jobs and service calls are being rescheduled, and our office will be reaching out. We plan to resume service tomorrow, weather permitting.

🥶Cold Weather Tips:

• Clear snow/ice from around heat pump outdoor units (18–24” clearance).
• Make sure outdoor oil lines & fill pipes are not buried in snow.
• Check that PVC intake/exhaust vents on 90%+ furnaces are clear.
• Keep your thermostat set consistently during extreme cold.
•Don’t drop your thermostat too low in hopes to save energy, as this may result in frozen pipes.

🚨 Single-Digit Temps = Frozen Pipe Risk 🚨

This is what can happen when temperatures drop into the single digits. 🥶
A frozen baseboard pipe can quickly burst, causing water damage and leaving you without heat when you need it most.

Cold-Weather Tips to Help Prevent This:
✔️ Keep your thermostat set consistently — don’t let the house drop too low
✔️ Make sure all rooms with baseboard heat are getting airflow
✔️ Open cabinet doors under sinks on exterior walls
✔️ Check that your heating system is running properly
✔️ Don’t ignore cold or partially heated areas of the home

If you’re noticing uneven heat, cold rooms, or are worried about freezing pipes, don’t wait until it’s an emergency.

❄️ Cold Weather Reminder for Our Customers ❄️

🥶With the extreme cold settling in and road conditions becoming hazardous, we wanted to share a few important reminders to help protect your home and keep your family comfortable.

• Heat pumps may struggle in these temperatures, especially when trying to maintain higher indoor setpoints like 72–80°F. This is normal behavior during extreme cold.
• If you typically keep your thermostat around 66–68°F, we highly recommend increasing it slightly, regardless of heat source (fuel oil, gas, or electric), to reduce the risk of frozen pipes.
• If you have space heaters, we recommend placing them in colder areas of the home, especially near locations where plumbing and pipes are present.
⚠️ Important safety reminder: Space heaters should NEVER be plugged into extension cords. Always plug them directly into a wall outlet and keep them clear of combustibles.
• Avoid turning systems down too low overnight or while away during this cold snap.

🚗 Road conditions are poor, but please know that we are doing our best to safely reach customers with no heat and will continue prioritizing no-heat calls.

🥶 One of the coldest days we’ve seen so far — here’s what to watch for 👇

When temperatures drop into the single digits, heating systems have to work overtime — especially heat pumps.

Here’s what we’re seeing across many homes right now:

🔹 Systems running longer than normal

🔹 Electric backup heat kicking on (which can drive energy bills up fast)

🔹 Heat pumps struggling to keep up due to airflow, refrigerant, or setup issues

🔹 Utility bills that don’t seem to match past winters


Some of this is normal during extreme cold, but not all of it.

This is also where system design matters. We’ve been installing a lot of Mitsubishi Electric Hyper-Heat systems, which are built to maintain heating capacity into single-digit temperatures and reduce reliance on electric backup heat. Not all heat pumps are created equal.

If your home isn’t staying comfortable, your system is running nonstop, or your energy bill doesn’t seem right, it may be time for a professional check before it turns into a breakdown.
