💐 🌹 🏵 Key Spring Maintenance & Safety Tips 🌼 🌸
Inspect Springs:
Look for gaps or rust in the torsion springs (above the door) or extension springs (sides). A broken spring often leaves a 2-inch gap.
Balance Test:
Disconnect the opener and manually lift the door halfway. It should stay in place; if it slams down or flies up, the springs are improperly balanced, causing high motor strain.
Lubrication:
Use a silicone-based spray or specialized garage door lubricant on rollers, hinges, and tracks to reduce noise and friction. Avoid using grease, which can trap dirt.
Tighten Hardware: Vibrations from daily use can loosen nuts and bolts; take time to tighten all hinge screws.
Check Weather Seals:
Inspect the bottom rubber seal and side weather stripping for winter damage to prevent water and pests from entering during spring, while keeping the air-conditioned air inside.
