Unpopular opinion… but an important one.
Bigger furniture doesn’t automatically mean better design.
When scale is off, even beautiful pieces can make a space feel heavy or disconnected.
In these spaces, every piece was selected in response to the architecture—ceiling height, proportions, and flow—not just what was trending.
That’s what creates a room that feels balanced, elevated, and comfortable.
It’s subtle, but it makes all the difference.
Agree or disagree?

Most rooms aren’t “missing something.”
They’re just designed backwards.

Starting with furniture often leads to a space that feels pieced together.

The real transformation happens when you define the envelope first — lighting, ceiling, and overall mood.

That’s what creates a space that actually feels intentional.

Good design is not just about how it looks, it’s how it works.
Every decision in this project was intentional:
• Layout
• Scale
• Materials
• Flow
What you see as a finished space started as a series of very strategic decisions behind the scenes.
That’s the difference between decorating and designing.

Let’s talk real numbers…
A kitchen renovation in New Orleans can vary widely, but here’s a general breakdown:
• Cosmetic refresh: $15K–$30K (think cabinet paint and hardware)
• Mid-range renovation: $30K–$75K (paint + backsplash tile + hardware + faucet)
• High-end / custom: $75K+
And here’s what most people don’t account for:
Labor, electrical, and plumbing often take a significant portion of the budget before finishes are even selected.
This is why planning early matters.
The goal isn’t just to spend—it’s to spend intentionally.

Thinking about a bathroom remodel? 🛁 Don’t let the price of that pretty tile fool you!

Most homeowners budget for the “finishes”—the vanities, the fixtures, the aesthetics. But the real investment often lies behind the walls. From moving plumbing to hidden “Pandora’s Box” surprises during demo, the prep work can easily double your expected budget. 💸

Doing it right the first time is cheaper than doing it twice! Who’s currently in the middle of a reno? Tell me your “hidden cost” horror stories below! 👇

Most people don’t realize this…

Your architect and your interior designer are not doing the same job, but when they work together early, everything changes.

Layouts become more intentional.
Lighting is planned correctly from the start.
Materials, proportions, and flow are considered as one cohesive vision, not patched together later.

This is where projects stop feeling “good enough” and start feeling truly elevated.

Bringing a designer in early isn’t an extra step, it’s what prevents costly changes, missed opportunities, and design compromises down the line.

The best projects are never accidental. They’re coordinated.

Most renovation mistakes don’t happen during construction.
They happen before it even starts.

Bringing a designer in early isn’t about finishes—it’s about planning, layout, and making the right decisions from the beginning.

If you’ve ever had to redo something mid-project, you know how costly that can be.

This is exactly why we approach design as the foundation, not the final layer.

Most costly design mistakes don’t happen because of “bad taste”… they happen because decisions are made too late.

Bringing your interior designer in early—alongside your architect and contractor—means your vision is considered from the very beginning, not forced in at the end.

✨ Better layouts
✨ Smarter material decisions
✨ Fewer change orders
✨ A more cohesive, intentional home

When design is part of the conversation from day one, everything flows better—creatively and financially.

If you’re planning a renovation or new build, don’t wait until the finishes… bring your designer to the table early.
