Today is !

Over the years, we’ve had the chance to work with nonprofits across New Orleans supporting housing, youth mentorship, and workforce development, including Uncommon Construction, Son of a Saint, YWCA New Orleans, and the Split Second Foundation.

Each project is different, but the goal is the same: creating spaces that support people and expand access to opportunity.

If you’re able, consider supporting a New Orleans nonprofit you care about today at givenola.org

We’re hosting a tour of St. Augustine High School’s campus renovations with A4LE - Association for Learning Environments.

The project focused on targeted upgrades—modernizing science labs, restoring a fire-damaged gym, and improving access, visibility, and comfort across academic and athletic spaces. Project architects Raymond Armant and Cornisha Lyons will walk through how these interventions support student performance, enable flexible use, and strengthen the school’s connection to alumni and the broader community.

This week, students from New Harmony High School joined us in the studio for a morning of conversation, exploration, and a hands-on design exercise. Working in groups alongside members of our team, they practiced testing how space and context shape experience.

It’s always a privilege to open the office and share in the process of moving ideas to form, especially with students already thinking critically about the built environment.

Turners’ Hall has served as a center of civic and cultural life in downtown New Orleans since 1868. When a portion of the building’s façade collapsed in December 2024, an immediate stabilization and restoration effort began to protect the landmark and preserve its historic presence in the Central Business District.

Trapolin-Peer Architects, working with Woodward Design+Build, Morphy Makofsky Inc., Abry Brothers, and a team of engineers and preservation partners, is leading the reconstruction and restoration of the damaged portions of the building. The work stabilizes the structure, rebuilds the historic façade, and restores salvaged architectural elements.

The project will allow Turners’ Hall to continue serving as the Louisiana Humanities Center and headquarters of the Louisiana Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities—supporting cultural programming, public dialogue, and education across the state.

Many of our projects begin with existing buildings.

At 3535 Magazine, the design inserts a minimal office plan within the historic structure, allowing the original materials and daylight to remain the primary spatial experience. By working within the building’s existing framework, the renovation preserves its character while supporting a new use along Magazine Street.

Small, careful interventions like this can transform spaces, and extend the life of buildings across New Orleans and the Gulf South.

We're proud to have the Dillard University Innovation Collective residence hall featured in Biz New Orleans last week. “To our design team, living, learning and community service had to be considered at the root of all architectural decisions,” says Project Architect Raymond Armant. Alan Wold highlights how the double-height central lounge fosters collaboration, and Alex Pappas and Austin Hogans Menold share how acoustics, flexibility and color support both study and community spaces. Today at ULI Emerging Trends, we’re sharing May & Ellis as one example of how adaptive reuse can support development in historic contexts.

The project combines two former warehouse buildings in the French Quarter into a single residential property. To make the conversion viable, the design introduces lightwells through each building to bring daylight into the center of the plan, organize circulation, and create a clear path for new building systems.

The approach allowed the historic structure to remain intact while meeting code and program needs. Limited penthouse additions at the rear of the roofs offset lost rentable area and preserved the character of the surrounding streetscape.
